Battle of Jutland - Centenary Competition

Just had a poor match, was a win though and beats my previous secondary battery score, so if possible can I have this ammended? Every little bit helps.

    ARP Kirishima

Fair enough, but thank heavens I'll never play mine, it's a waste. Pretty shiny coloured ships are just far too removed from epic naval games.
  3. And that is what I am referring to, i.e. a better argument. I cannot stand it when people simply resort to a bs one-phrase-suits-all solution instead of being a little intelligent about it. I agree, it is a competitive ship and love playing mine, I never in any way feel outclassed in my Tirpitz, even when in a tier 10 battle and I still feel she handles well. She's a contender on all levels. But when it's said 'oh well, get closer' - I mean really, that point on it's own does work but is so situational and implies you have some form of coordination happening in your team - random battles - the mainstream sandbox - does not 'in general' result in great team play. Sometimes yes, mostly no.
  4. Getting closer - as you said - works in some circumstances and is situational. Don't be ignorant. You're implying getting closer puts pressure on the enemy team, but in reality and in most games, when you look back most of your team hasn't joined you. This is the reality mate, yours refers to coordinated battle - which sadly most random games do exhibit. I'm not saying sitting back is the answer - did I say this? But so many simple-minded tunnel-visioned fools take a text book phrase and apply it in a blanket fashion as the solution - sound familiar?

ARP is just pure crap tbo. Who takes a grand naval game and then paints it with kiddie [edited]to make it all pretty and flourescent? Cheapens the game so much imho, so thank goodness I don't ever get to seee them in battle, it would utterly ruin the game for me. Here I am playing a WW2 era naval game and along comes these anime'esc' ships. Only the kiddies will love this for sure. I can see the appeal in asia because they live breathe and sleep anime stuff that has quite simply never ever made sense to me. Honestly, why have 3 kongos and 3 myokos, all with different colour schemes. So freakin stupid. There, I've said it, have a go at me now

Weekend event: 04-07 June: Battle of Midway

Don't just watch one video mate, watch a few and perhaps take some time to see how they fair in live battles. It's a very very situational ship and certainly not an alrounder at all. It has torps but good luck if you get to use them, it's guns get knocked out easily, it has poor armour and is very easily targeted. I know, I'm always seen as an easy kill in mine and similarly see others as easy kills in theirs. It's not a normal experience to get good games from it, like I said, it's siutational and depends on the mm and map too. If you have no carrriers in the game, or few dd's then the ship is basically moot. Good luck though.
  7. They did not give them to us, when will people like you finally realise this? We worked to get those ships by playing their game, paying for premium time, buying ships, etc. Nothing they do is for free. They want people to play their game and as such will present us with motivating teasers and carrots to provide an experience that is more than the grindfest the game quickly becomes without them. There is no clan wars, no other end game when you reach tier 10, nothing to drive people on to continue playing, so providing events, specials, etc provides more variety and entices people to play more. WG are NOT doing any of this for charity...get that into your head mate.
  8. It's not about only playing for the 'secret'. it's about the anticipation of something at the end of the long event being labelled a ''secret', which carries with it all sorts of connotations, especially ones leaning towards something exciting at the finish of the event. To have 10 camos and then stretch the goal to an unacheivable 15mil is a massive slap in the face. The event was a journey, with some nice rewards along the way, and what most of those participating aniticipated to be a grand finale - well the grand finale turned out to be a sloppy rotten fish - do these guys even know what they did wrong here? I don't reckon so, because if they did they'd rectify their mistake.
  9. Why are people saying get closer when in reality we are not fighting one on one battles with enemy BB's? The likelyhood of getting closer in this game means you'll be receiving fire from many other ships too so the phrase 'getting closer' is moot unless you're in a lemming train and we all know how those go don't we? There has to be a better argument than the cliched 'get closer', which I can understand is the only thing many of you can come up with. Remember, there are invisible DD's to contend with and the unending rain of fire from fire inducing cruisers, not to mention the RNG and other BB's with more accurate guns. Seriously, the whole 'get closer' fail argument applies to late game encounters when there may only be a few ships left, if you're lucky. Stop playing textbook rules and repeating what others have said and come up with a better argument. If we were to have smaller battlegroups, smaller teams fighting one another like in team and ranked battles then the argument may apply, but in 12 v 12 on some of these maps? No way. Utter garbage.

    I just can't win

Yeh, I suppose you could argue I hit a wall after a while and went full tilt, but it did seem like someone had flicked a switch because I felt like I was playing a different game completely with the way things were going - like all of a sudden I had been given large numbers of bad team mates, and then you could further argue my negativity got in the way of progress in every other game I played.

    Possible price change for Atlanta?

Nope, the OP has a point, there is NO reason the price should be different, if anything the Atlanta should be far lower in price because you have only listed the few pro's . There are many cons making the ship far worse than how nice it looks. Simply put, they are US tier 7 cruisers and that should be enough to set the price.

    GNB "its a secret"

Personaly, it is relatively grand in nature, it marks the end of the event...labelled a 'secret'. If 10 camo's was all they meant to add then marking it as a secret is a huge overstatement. Besides this, I'm more pissed there are no more weekly missions, my goal was 900 since there is no way in hell I can play 500 games, but I'm now cut short of that by 40 diamonds. But...I shouldn't be surprised by WG should I? It's rather typical of them to start out good and then flop it when it counts. I'm glad I participated, but it will make me think twice next time round. I put in a lot of time so I owe them nothing and they did me no favours. Some folk just need to stop acting like they've gifted us stuff, which from a business sense they have not. There are no real freebies in this game, not from my perspective, I pay for premium, I buy ships now and then and I generally enjoy the game alot, but as mentioned, I owe them absolutely no gratitude whatsoever.....it should be the other way around.

    GNB "its a secret"

The reality of it is that WG have cocked up monumentally by claiming the 12mil mark was a 'secret' and then proudly proclaimed it to be 10 camos. That is one of the most anti-climactic finals I've ever seen them do. We had fun on the way, but instead of what should have been fireworks at the end turned out to be a sparkler...and I'm sorry, but WG did imply the fireworks aspect of it by claiming it to be a 'secret'. They screwed up, and screwed up on a grand scale.

    I just can't win

Me neither OP, I've lost 10 games in a row now, I had teams that played so well and then something changed and every team I've got into the last ten games has simply had no clue. At most there were 3 of us on each team that worked together, the rest had no goal in mind and actually played like bots. It was incredible. Every game brought hope that the previous loss would be forgotten so I could at least have one good battle, but the teams fell apart in moments, always forming a useless lemming train that stalled. What the [edited]is going on? Without exagerrating I was set on fire at least 3 to 4 times in every single battle whereas the previous ones I was hardly set on fire. Same ship all the time, my warspite. In the previous games I was citadelling others, in the losses I was citadelled all the time and my shots went so [edited]off target it beggars believe, even at 12km. Something [edited]funny is going on here. The change is way too dramatic to not notice something is off, and it's not my gameplay. I hardly had time to do anything.

You've missed the point and you're unfairly labelling people making a very reasonable complaint. We enjoyed it all the way through and in my case, because I cannot play all day every day due to work commitments, I planned my way forward with knowing full well I'd not reach the 1000 mark but could at least make the 900 mark, so the see lion flag was my end game. Since we had until the 8th to do it and with another expected allotment of weekly missions I could see me achieving what I set out to achieve. You cannot blame people for running a race and then being tripped just before the end by someone else's shoelaces...surely you get this don't you?
  18. Keep burying that head in the sand so when the tsunami hits you can have full deniability of it's existence. If you're ok with it, then so be it, but remember one thing Mr. 'I'm happy with whatever I get cause I have low expectations', that most changes that have come about, including the change to the inflated bundled packages we used to get in the premium shop, have all been because of people complaining and raising a fuss, and rightly so. You, on the other hand, are the type of person that will reap the benefits from the efforts of others. Parasite? Now it seems you bite the hand that feeds you!

Perhaps you're correct - but they cannot really expect us to be happy about the finish. The weekly goals were reset every week (obviously, lol) but why the sudden announcement today then of 'there will be no more weekly goals'. Could we not have been told a little earlier, we were technically still in the final week of the event which technically once again warranted another weekly reset. So they simply decided they wouldn't reset this week because? Forgive me if I offended you mate, but they really do irritate me at times with their random BS. There is more RNG in their decision making than in the game itself. I suppose we should always expect a 25% shift to the left or right when it comes to WG making decisions, it's seldom straight forward with them.

Not really, but the weekly missions? Just vanished all of a sudden. The 'us reaching 12 million' was apparently a technical glitch on their part and so they extended it, but since we had not reached the 12 million before this issue there was mean't to be another set of weekly missions not so? Or have I got it wrong? If so, then I'm the plonker, but I read it they had an issue that set the goal of 12 million to 'achieved' and so had to extend it. Personally, I've peeved because my plan was to reach 900 diamonds to get the sea lion flag, now stuck short by 40 because the next set of weekly missions vanished and no way of ever achieving it. It's not the end of the world, but it really irks me they've changed the rules.

Not many are complaining about the event not being worthwhile, it was great fun, but WG moving the goalposts at the end when many of us had technically planned our way forward is not really nice of them is it? It's a slap in the face to those aiming for higher and playing hard. The event had a start and finish, now WG have changed things due to a 'technicality' right at the end. And for 10 extra camo's? What a load of [edited]. Just remember, we didn't really get all this stuff for free, we played their game which is what they want us to do, many spent money which is what they hoped we would do, so to now go and alter the deal with minimalist compense is a rather large cockup on their part. We certainly DO NOT need it thrown in our faces we are being ungrateful, gratitude has nothing to do with anything, this is about them sticking to their own bloody rules and dealing with us fairly, which clearly they HAVE NOT. And a cursory attempt by one of their staff to 'explain things' is simply nowhere near good enough. It's freakin pathetic and I will not kiss arse thanking every he or she for all the 'favours' we've been granted. They (WG) should count themselves lucky, not the other way around. Without us there is no them, but this has and always will be an issue with WG, no matter how anyone working for them tries to justify it or berate us for our 'ungrateful' attitude! Where is the next batch of weekly missions then too? They just decided that there will be no more? They must be joking on a grand scale.

Battle of Jutland - Centenary Competition

In that game I worked alongside two friendly chaps in their indianapolis'. I heavily damaged all we engaged and they finished them off for the kill, so their kills were impressive, my damage count was high'ish. I did try to steal a kill here and there though . The 3 of us took on two full health fuso's and 3 or 4 cruisers and beat them. I had some very lucky shots and the fuso's ignored me at 10km range trying to kill other ships so I took advantage and hit them where it hurts. The look on my face when I saw two fuso's with their broadside to me at that close range. Yummy yummy.
  23. Yes, I remember that game well, I still tried to 'engage in chat' with him but he wasn't having any of it. He lost that game for us by continuously leaving the cap and tk'ing. Hopefully all reported him but I suspect his karma is zero and WG would never do anything about his distructive behaviour. One player has such an impact on a team and receives no sanctions.

Another good game in the warspite: The more I play it the more I love it..can a person truly love it so much to infinity and beyond?
  25. Thought your name was familiar, but then I said to myself 'nah Don, not every player is a forumite'. Now I know.....I barely remember the game so disappointed was I with a fair number of consecutive losses.
