  1. With all due respect to the OP, being a person that has played the alpha he should easily have known how to report this fella. This is simply a chance to complain on the forums.

    XVM but less toxic?

I'd say rather institute a small vote where players have the opportunity while going into battle to vote for their flagship. This way the players in the team pick who they want. I'm sure it could be done. Perhaps at the beginning after countdown have a little timer and players could r/click a name and vote for him / her to be the flagship, equal votes cancels out and whoever has the most votes...obvious is obvious. It'll be just like reporting /complimenting someone, just with another option. Winner gets a flagship flag or perhaps another slightly different coloured vessel on the minimap fo all to see. No skill needed, just tactical democracy.
  3. I know I'm already buying it. Played it at Chatham and loved it. Got owned a lot in her but only because I hadn;t learned her strengths and weaknesses properly. It just looks.....so damned sexy!

    XVM but less toxic?

It doesnt matter what system of 'identifying' the most skilled player we use, someone will always find a way to abuse it somehow. I like the idea of a flagship, but who is to say the most skilled player can lead a team? Assuming that his superior skill automatically makes him a flagship is unwise imho, Personal skill does not automatically translate to a skill as a field commander or 'admiral' as such. Take it from me and many others who have played clan wars for years. I've been in reasonably good clans and seen some epic players exhibit poor FC skills time and time again, and I've witnessed some abysmal players read the strategic and tactical gameplay with great foresight, it just doesn;t translate in their own gameplay. Sounds silly I know, but I know it's the truth. Also, I don't want some young little pissant telling me what to do all game. If I want that I'll play more clan wars, haha. Randoms is the sandbox, we don't need elitism of any kind in it, let alone XVM. We have clan wars and team battles for that.

    RN Changes (no HE/Smoke screens)

If the ships only become playable at tier 8 onwards I see it as a massive waste of the first 7 tiers. Not all folk love high tier gameplay so technically this would rule out the brits at low to mid tiers. Let's hope level heads prevail on this at Wargaming and they do the ships justice so they find a comfortable slot in terms of balance compared to the rest of the other nations cruisers.
  6. Saw Raven_Ace in a game on Islands of Ice. I think he was in his Zao and me in my newly purchased Amagi. I think we lost but not sure because I got killed trying to run away from 4 enemy ships.

The book is extermely interesting, I'll be using my new-found knowledge in randoms to undo many nasty habits I've developed in the game

    Todays event at chatham

Well, the day began when my good friend flankerdiddy and myself set off early this morning on a train bound for Chatham. We arrived at the docks at around 10h15 after getting lost on our less than informed walk through Chatham itself. What awaited us was almost entirely a scene from the 40's, people included, and displays and exhibits that failed to disappoint in almost every way. The Cavalier...ooooh, beautiful and larger than I expected, and then the Ocelot and Gannet too. On first entering the gates we decided to straight away locate the Wargaming exhibit and establish the immediate locale around it as our home base for the day. We found it easily and played a few games from the get go as a warm up with the help of Ph3l4n. Great guy by the way! We had soon earned a goody bag each and so decided not to be greedy and took our first real walk around the dockyard and to have a little breakfast and such. After around an hour we returned to have a few more games and this is basically how our day went, with frequent gaming sessions followed by walks of discovery into life in the 1940's. We were earlier on told of the daily challenge to get the most damage and that there were prizes, and although not initally our aim for the day we decided whenever we returned to give it a go in all ships we had not yet each owned or played in the game. That sounded fair right? To us it did and as long as we weren't stealing seats from others we thought we'd play hard and from then on our sessions took place in the gaming room alongside the Wargaming truck, with our host none other than Tuccy himself. An honor to meet you Sir! It wasn't long before Flankerdiddy got a damage count of 289000ish followed by me with around 189000ish (or 198000 - can't remember). We felt dirty, we felt we had commited treason, because we had both got the scores using the tier 10 jap CV. All ships we attempted were ones we had not played before, and for me, a usually poop CV captain, this was epic. Tuccy logged our scores and lo and behold at the end of the day as we were about to leave after our wives had given us the phone call of 'where are you guys?' Tuccy asked us to hold on and what followed was the prize presentation. Flankerdiddy won the top prize of a Bismarck model kit and I won a book titled 'Great Naval Blunders' - which I soon started to read on the way home. The highlight of my day? Playing the beautifully sexy Belfast. This little RN cruiser is amazing, I love it. It's still a cruiser, but it looks and feels the part. I'll definitely be picking this up when released. My advice is for you folks to go if you can, support WG and meet the crew. The whole lot of them were fantastic and very accommodating. They are very well informed and hosted us perfectly. I'd go again tomorrow if I could. PS: I got home and my one daughter stole the WG T-shirt and other daughter stole my cup and torpedo pen. At least I got to keep the bonuscode!
  10. Sshhh, he'll say it's against his will and he's the victim. It's easy for people to focus on the negative though, and all too hard to remember the positive stuff the UK has done. We could very easily dig up dirt on any country anyhow, all we need is that chap to declare his nationality and we'll start digging. Might not even take us that long.
  11. To be perfectly honest if WG duff up the RN ships I'll most like leave the game. I've waited a long time for a ship line that quite frankly should have been in the game from the day of first release and if they now screw it all up by making them less than playable I'll be extremely angry. The problem is the Royal Navy has come into the game as more of an afterthought since there was a reasonably large backlash from their delay in the first place, and if they now make them less than average because all other good configurations are used up on the preceeding nations then this is a no-no for me. It'll feel too much like an insult to me. For me it all hinges on what they do with the RN. I enjoy playing other nations but my key drawcard was always to sail a few RN vessels. Let's face it, we all have our nation-favourites and we all want to sail our country's pride and joy into battle. We don't need them to be all-powerful, but if they 'overbalance' by making them exceptionally weak in a game where cruisers are already disadvantaged then my days here are numbered. Simply philosophy really.

Chatham dock event , whos going ?,

We're in Canterbury, so only 40 miles or so away. Well worth the journey!

Tuccy's going to get so many man-hugs it's not funny.
  14. I'm eager to find out myself, logged in twice but nothing. Patience!

IF WG GO OUT OF BUSSINESS !

If people buy premium ships (like me) then they should realise the risk that the game could one day close. We should ensure we understand that we are purchasing entertainment for a limited time and premium ships etc, will only ever be temporary and form part of this temporary entertainment package. The one thing I can never understand is when people say they like to buy all ships, esp premiums, simply to 'collect' them. This collection (and all that money) will disappear and there'll be nothing to show for it so I suppose it all depends in how you psychologically attach yourself to your premium ships, are you wasting money just because as human beings we like to hoard things? I see mine as transient, they'll fade one day. I've slowly been learning to control my impulsive buying of shiny new ships (maybe a little too late), but I've come to accept it's technically money for entertainment, not money for anything permanent, and that's ok with me. I see the scharnhorst, the P Eugen, the Texas, the indianapolis, etc and I'd love to buy them, but realistically I've changed my mindset and no longer 'need' to have them like I once did. WG will have to make vessels a lot more cost effective and fun for me to consider parting with cash. A premium account is all I am catering for nowadays. Maybe I'll have a weak moment or two in times to come, it all depends, but the days of an open wallet philosophy for all virtual items is no longer acceptable to me. You see how tormented and confused I have become?

Chatham dock event , whos going ?,

I am indeed the short one, hence the loud noise I make all the time..small man syndrome. Not that short, just shorter than my friend, haha.

Chatham dock event , whos going ?,

Myself and a friend, Flankerdiddy, will both be there. Looking forward to it, hope it doesn't disappoint! Just look for two old guys (40's and short, and 50ish and taller) acting like 16 year olds.
  19. Can't argue with you regarding that fubuki, you had a good point so lets hope he learns from it
  20. LilJumpa in the same team. We both greeted one another and then went on to help the team win the game. Nice DD play by LilJumpa in his Fletcher.

    Patch 0.5.11 release notes

It's nice they're going to allow for armour viewing but to be blatantly honest, personally that is to say, I have never really worried at all about armour values that much. I just play my ship and point and click most of the time (in the general sense). Apart from basics like torpedo spread and ranges, firing ranges, speed etc. I've never really worried overly about any of the finer details on ships. Maybe that's because I don't play ultra competitively and I play relatively aggressively knowing full well my ship will blow up, sink or burn at some point. When commanding a vessel I seldom worry overly about how perfectly I am angled to maximise my armour values, as long as I angle here and there. Maybe it'll change if clan wars ever come into the fray, but until then I'm quite happy. (This is the part everyone says 'good for you then, now p*ss off')
  22. Adding loot boxes to the game is a great idea sicne it adds an element of surprise to every game, but using these same loot / lotto boxes to justify zero change to the ingame economy in terms of high repair bills is rather stupid and quite convenient for wargaming. So if I'm thirsty I need to hope for a slice of bread? This makes as much sense as what they're proposing. Who are these people and on what planet did they learn hone their skills at failed logic?
  23. One should always choose the lesser of two weevels!
  24. Can the cleaning guy use the internet? Maybe he's the one who can tell us all sorts of juicy stuff.
