Personally I do not find it OP at all, it's as squishy as the other brit cruisers. It has a few extra bells and whistles but I think all the hype about it being totally OP is just that, whiny hype. The way everyone complained about it being OP was so severe that when I went into my first few games I thought I'd be like the yamato in tier 7, but I wasn't and the ship takes damage very quickly if you make a single mistake. It's not very forgiving at all. Nice ship to play but you are very aware of where you are and are not allowed to go when the game begins.

Do we have consensus on what the best skills are for the captain of the Belfast? I need to copy someone else because I can't think straight at the moment.
-
In todays world it all depends on the type of business you are running, whether it's a slash and burn franchise or one nurturing a more long term investment. WG could do both here and perhaps they do in terms of premium time and expanding tech trees. The ships they release are premium items which people pay for, ie.e on top of it all, if they want the extra's. I agree they're pricy, but until there is uniformity amongst the playerbase wrt not buying these things at these prices, and which may force WG to rethink, to them it works so they continue. In all honesty we will NEVER achieve uniformity because we cannot even agree on the simple things, and people are often overun by the whole 'instant gratification' issue where they have to have something and have it now whatever the cost. We are also separated by nationalities, and languages, ideologies and incomes, all the overall socio economic differences. Too much to overcome before the playerbase can unify itself and form a representative player run comittee representing enough players for WG to take notice. Eve Online does it, perhaps we need to look there? A good solution would be to form and then unite clans, which on their own can reach consensus within their own ranks. You see how complicated it all is? WG rule the waves on this one, but ultimately it's us, the players, feeding the problem and turning it into permanent practice. WG are only trying to make as much money as they can in as short a time frame because the gaming industry is rather fluid.

For Whom the Bellfast Tolls....see what I did there?

I bought one, but it's a little nasty to say you feel little for people who have no money. Laugh at people complaining about other things if you wish, but not at their personal circumstances. This is a little cold-hearted and harsh. Life has a way of reminding us how quickly we could find ourselves in those exact same predicaments. Count your blessings if you have coin, with humility being the key, and be charitable if you can, but don't step on the downtrodden because sooner or later, not 'if', but 'when', your words will come back at you.

Yes, RN cruisers seem to be one-hit-wonders (if the enemy are not angled in any way) but are not able to sustain a fight for any length of time. Not sure why WG thought it a good idea to make it unpleasurable to play from what I've been hearing in all the lower tiers. They're not going to be encouraging many new brit players because naturally many of them will opt in for their own national line first and when they see how terrible they are they may be discouraged by finding it too difficult and not fun to play, hence may stop playing altogether. The RN line tend to be a kamikaze line so reading what so many have said I'm put off even touching the line. Disappointing approach by WG.
-
Yes OP, lots of positive stuff has come from the release of the RN cruiser line. For me personally I decided to claim a little of my life back by not playing so much. I've waited for the RN for an age, and after reading all the feedback I thought 'what a great time to exercise restraint and will power'. I'm winning because as time goes by my will power strengthens to never research a single RN vessel in silent protest. Only a day so far, but with each moment I get stronger. It was a major slap in the face from WG, an insult to many in their loyal playerbase, but I am learning to turn the other cheek and adopt a more ghandi'esk approach. I believe I am a better man for it. I also positively believe WG messed up dramatically, but I must thank them for making me realise how much more important other stuff in life is. #atleastIhavetheBelfastnowsowhocaresaboutthefailRNlineandthanksWGforturningsomethingsoexcitingintoahugedisappointmentafterwaitingsolongfortheRN

Woke up, checked, and bought it instantly, then got dressed and drove to work happy, although it's going to feel like the longest day I've ever had till I get to play her tonight at round 21h00.
-
You mean before WG nerfed the centurions into oblviion? They were the only real things good about the british line back then.
-
Ignore Cro_pwr. He's a prime example of a waste of oxygen. Complain all you like. I bet it if was something he hotly anticipated he'd be ten times worse, so forgive the hypocrite his ignorance.

polish?

Ah, I see the sock puppets have appeared to counter negative sentiment which is already rife. The brit line is a major, and I mean major, disappointment it seems. How could this have happened? To the supertesters, could you share a little of the iinfo your forwarded to WG, i.e. what feedback did you give them?
-
Oh sure, let's slow down to get citadelled even faster before we can hit that smoke button. Just lol and nowhere near realistic in your comments.
-
Well, based on feedback from some respectable people here I won't be starting the RN line at all, what's the point. All that excitement to see them done such an injustice. This update feels like such a major let down. This was the line I was most anticipating. Well, at least they tricked everyone into spending all those dubloons in their port for conversion before reaping more profit from the Belfast when it's finally released.

Who's staying up tonight to install it first. I must warn you though, you'll be very tired cause it's only coming tomorrow morning, You could always watch all the movies until then though, i.e. Battle of the River Plate, Midway, Tora Tora, Debbie does Dallas (sorry, wrong movie), etc.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Shaka_D replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Just saw Gr0pah...his team thoroughly kicked our noob team backside in a ranked battle. Got a little afraid when Gr0pah taunted me in chat 'I can see you'.......then I got mad, like only a zulu could, and killed 2 (although one was almost dead already, so it felt dirty). At least I survived running around in circles. -
Then I'm going to make sure I get it as soon as it pops up in the store! Sold, gullible, but sold! (and I forgot how to spell gullable / gullible)

Sigh.....I'm pretty sure in my last two posts I mentioned repeatedly that if the mod was part of the vanilla client all arguments would fade, but having them part of a 'separate' pack not everyone wants to or can install for various reasons given then there will always be hard feelings. Not every person visits the forums, knows what's going on, see and hears things we do. Quit with the one-sided BS sentiment of we already have signals, etc in game already, blah blah in the game. I know this stuff already. I am talking strictly about an 'external' mod that not everyone has access too, once again for reasons above, and clearly there is an issue with it for it to be debated as much. So why not dispell with all cheat sentiment and endorse it by putting it IN THE CLIENT - I say again - IN THE CLIENT. This way we don't have to install a mod to access it. Everyone has free and easy access to all advantages in game already, but not everyone can / wants / knows how to use mods, as above. Rince and repeat, second verse same as the first! The whole thing was initially blown out of proportion, even by me with my little rants on cheating, but unfair advantages no matter how slight (and NO - don't even go there wrt ingame stuff) is the start of a journey down the WRONG path. Have a little foresight please. I saw it happen to WoT, I've seen it happen to many games in my years of gaming. The best way is to endorse features into the client, because then at least we know that WG as whole would have approved it and made it globally accessible, and perhaps mods could only provide aethetics, but when you start tinkering with little things like this we're heading into dangerous territory. Think beyond what you know now. I'm fighting to build flood defences, not trying to bail out the water when everything is flooded and it's too late.

So I guess everyone wants cruisers to stay the non-entity class in the game then? I guess they have to be to please bb and dd players. Us cruiser players should therefore resign ourselves to being the lesser class. It's sad we can't even have one line that at least scares all those bb and dd freaks out there. Let the whines begin, I'll play them till they get nerfed then I'll start pleading for nerfs to dd's and bb's too and rally support for the cause. I'm pretty sure I can muster up sufficient support in this regard.
-
I think you've completely missed the point haven't you? Especially concerning, since I mentioned the same point over and over. Please, forget what you want to see in my post and see what I'm actually saying!
-
As I mentioned, if it is included in the vanilla so it's readily available ingame and people don't have to actually research and become aware of mods, and then download and install them separately, then we're talking a more level playing field. Not everyone knows about mods, or maybe don't want to separately install mods, or don't visit the forums, and so on. Add it to the client and everything in the client will be deemed to be vanilla and freely accessible to all and sunder with a few clicks. Flags, captain skills, etc are all part of the vanilla client, so are different cross-hairs, etc, but while a certain feature remains part of a 'modpack' it will ALWAYS be seen to be alien to the client and open to massive debate and infighting, as we are seeing now. Mods might be as obvious to you as they are, but to many others I bet they are not. If it's in the client not a single person can argue. Non-modders will have no argument and blame cannot be passed as to 'someone is cheating' because of 'a', 'b' or 'c'. This is what I mean level playing field and excludes flags, signals, cap skills, modules, etc since they are already freely selectable ingame. It really is as simple as this.
-
Can a good player use this mod to great advantage, i.e. does it compliment his skill by giving him a greater chance of beating his opponent because he knows how to use it properly? If the answer is yes and it's not in the vanilla client then technically it's not really a fair scenario is it, irrespective of whether the 'anyone can use it' argument is raised. If WG deems it 'allowed and therefore not cheating' then by their standards, and those following WG's every guideline, it's not technically cheating. But is it right? Well your conscience's are clear because someone else has said it's fine, in this case the devs, although I would like to hear their logic or justification on this? Why is acceptable to them? Is this not a small step in the direction of 'what'll be next' and evenutally we'll be so far from the vanilla client it's not funny. A level playing field is what's required in any game like WoWS, and by level I mean inclusion in the vanilla client for anyone to access directly without having to first 'research mods' and those who may not even appreciate mods on the first place. I use no mods, my choice, I know how to use them, but I am informed on their use and existence because I visit the forums, and play with others, but just how many of the playerbase do this? And in a team game do I not have the right to a fairly balanced team? So what if I get players on my team who never use any mods against a team with players that use mods (which are not in the vanilla) and who may have a more clear view of the battle, i.e. stuff to help them aim, angle, etc. Personally, I think we're on very shaky ground here, the start of a journey that will lead to more and more dubious stuff over time and eventually change the game completely. It all starts with stuff like this. My vote is to either sanction it completely by addition to the vanilla or ban it.

If it upsets you they have won. You can report them to try have them punished but at the end of the day is it really going to change they way they are inside? I don't think so. Much of who they are is a result of their upbringing I presume. The best way to win this is to completely ignore them as if they don't exist. I've said some nasty things to people (profanity only - never racism or wishing dreadful diseases on someone though) and I often apologise afterward (no excuse), but the best way people have fought back is to ignore me or simply be nice. When people bait you and you respond accordingly then you start getting upset even more. Believe me, ignore them and they go away, they have to live with themselves, so let them.
