    Ideas for when CBT ends

Speaking of rewards, I would much rather have WG give us one commander from each nation with say 15 skill points, than a ship or free gold Maybe even carry over all our commanders with reset skill points
  2. +1 for the effort as I see some people negrepping you. On EU server we definitely have some pathetic people. You may not like the mod, but at least respect the effort...

Anyone tried out HMS Warspite yet?

After 3 battles, my preliminary impressions: The best characteristic of Warspite is by far the maneuverability. Not only does it allow to dodge torpedoes but more importantly it is rather easy to dodge incoming shells from enemy BBs. Just last game 2 Amagis were trying to focus on me at 18-20km range for about 2 minutes and managed to hit me with just one shell. It seems that the armor is also quite good as I managed to face a Cleveland without much trouble, and many other ships as Warspites now are a popular target . Of course I am usually angled and that seems to cover well the weakspots. When in range, guns are quite good and I find them more reliable than Japanese counterparts. I do not have big issues with the low range as I prefer in any case a closer combat. Even in Japanese BBs I seldom fight at more than 15km so I guess I am used to shorter engagement ranges The biggest weakness is for sure the turn rate of guns. Nevertheless it can be mitigated by maneuvering the ship to help train guns on the target quicker. It seems that it is much quicker to turn the ship 180deg and fire on the enemy than to wait for guns to do the same. Second weakness is top speed, more notably the drop in speed during full turn (drops to app. 18kn), but one can live with that I guess. All in all I find it quite a decent ship and enjoyed the 3 games so far. @Brett50 and other novice players: This is definitely not a "beginner friendly" ship like other BBs. Please do not skip tiers to play it as this one is not easy to handle and gets into T9 matches. Also, if your BB fight style is to stay in the back of map fighting at max ranges, this is not a ship for you.
  4. As I understood, you will not be able to buy it in premium shop, but only ingame with doubloons
  5. Well that was obviously taken earlier today (i.e. early morning their time). At this moment there are 2,4k players online and it is 5 p.m. eastern and 2 p.m. pacific. I do not know what is the number in "prime time"
  6. That is true for certain game mechanics, but not for specific tanks.
  7. Only stats will show if this ship is UP or not - this is what beta testing is for. I would say it is too early to speculate or make noise I do not think that any amount of whining on forums will force WG to make changes if it is not supported by figures.
  8. Sorry to disappoint you, but once the US flags flies over anything there is no going back no matter the arguments
  9. I presume that it will be available to re-buy otherwise they would have wasted a lot of time in development of this ship for nothing (and for them that is lost money). However, which tier, which characteristics and which price, that's anyone's guess
  10. Range is on the weak side, but at least it will not be yet another J line cruiser It may actually force it to support CAs and DDs.

    Aiming MOD Exposed!

Come on, basically aim-mod and eye of sauron, - already known game braking mods... Nothing new from that side. Training room? Interesting to note that below the "Beta work in progress" it is also written "obsolete". Obviously he just unlocked a crappy functionality which is probably for good reason not available atm. And to call this "SeaPack" and say it has functionality of Warpack? That is pure trolling and "hyping" the modpack. I would not be surprised that you have to pay for it...

    Aiming MOD Exposed!

Yeah together with tracer mod and white sunken ships Seems like just another bad trolling attempt to stirr up raging on forums

my first encounter with a cheater?

Trolling much? Already 2nd post about that alleged "SeaPack". Are you now going to spam more threads?

my first encounter with a cheater?

You do not really need ranging shots at 13km (or even 15km for that matter). I would say RNG gods smiled at him If I understood the aim-mod thread correctly, it is aiming at the citadel at all times and you cannot pick to aim at different turrets. As already said the main issue is very weak turrets. Is it a bug or balancing attempt from WG cant really say.

Aren't battleships kinda underpowered right now?

I agree with you that one can learn a lot from good videos/tutorials without needing to play the game extensively, but it is obvious that a lot of our fellow captains did not even watch (or read) any of them, let alone have enough experience before trying to play "experts" on forums. I am yet to see any videos (or arguments) which prove that BBs camping around map borders, engaging only at max range without supporting the team can produce a consistent success (such as achieving a high WR across a large number of games). Of course if RNG gods are kind to you (or you use crutches in for of "aim mod") you may get a few good games by camping, but that is rather an exception than the rule. I am more inclined to believe my own experiences as well as tips/guides from developers, supertesters, good players..., than believing some users which are ad nauseam repeating some invalid arguments not supported by facts such as ship characteristics, game mechanics..., hoping maybe that people are going to accept their arguments if they repeat them enough times. Being a "positive" type of person I am hence inclined to assume that various statements going against the logic are the result of lack of experience, rather than a matter of trolling on purpose these forums and community. You are correct that high risk moves tend to punish the BB class (compared to other classes), but the answer is not minimizing risks (camping) as low risk brings low rewards. The proper "risk profile" for BBs is taking a medium risk (generally pushing forward together with teammates and supporting the team) and mostly fighting at medium (less than15 km) and close distances, as the big HP pool, heal ability, secondaries... can mitigate very well such undertaken risks.

    Aiming MOD Exposed!

Of course we can never know for sure (speaking of specific users), but I have no doubts that there is a number of "paid trolls" or "fanbois" from other competing development studios which are hard at work bashing this game as much as possible. Lets be honest it is a common practice in the gaming industry. Do not get me wrong, while I believe that WoWs still needs a lot of development and improvements, judging from a rather large number of "troll" posts and threads against the game, the competition seems concerned. If WG manages to launch a good product, it will not have much impact, but the practice saddens me as it creates unnecessary toxicity especially on the forums

Aren't battleships kinda underpowered right now?

Zenith, now I see the issue. As you have played a total of 39 games in randoms of which an incredible count of 10 games in low tier battleships, it is normal to have issues with understanding the roles of ships and game mechanics. Please come again after you play a few hundred battles, reach some higher tiers and get some more experience, for a more constructive discussion and feedback. Thanks

Aren't battleships kinda underpowered right now?

Maybe you are not understanding adequately the various comments made about BB gameplay. To use their full potential, BBs require even more skill than most other classes - so very far from easy. To cruise all game on the J line shooting at max range praying to RNG gods, without even trying to support teammates or fulfill game objectives, i.e. focusing solely on survival and doing damage - that is easy and basically requires very little skill. You say most people are YOLO-ing and leaving poor BBs without support. I would say instead that CAs and DDs are doing their job (going forward) and that BBs are camping. What do you think would happen if, God forbid, a BB would start following them immediately at full speed ahead? If you are having difficulties answering that question, let me help you: in most cases they would survive much longer, reduce the threat against your BB with AA and picking-off destroyers, and finally together you would likely win the game. Some people in some other threads have already noticed that in WoWs "lemming train" tactic tends to work very well as long as there is one or two ships on the opposite side to slow down eventual enemy push towards cap. As you can see from the above explanation it is no coincidence, since that is one of the rare instances where BBs are actually pushing the sea lanes, supporting lighter classes and sharing damage from enemy.

Brawlers - which ships will fit this role?

It seems that the only solution currently is to have a mixed division (e.g. BB + CA + DD, or BB + CA...). I have to say that I do not understand why so many divisions consist of same ship classes as there is no synergy effect like in mixed classes.

Brawlers - which ships will fit this role?

If you are referring to BB vs CA (or DD), I wish training battles were working so I can show you one on one the error of that statement, even though I am a not good BB player (prefer DDs and CAs) That statement is true only in case of numerical superiority, but then again 2 ships of any class will in most cases wreck any single ship no matter its class.

Brawlers - which ships will fit this role?

@boomaster I would suggest you check again the characteristics of BBs and CAs. One on one, a battleship will in all cases (in close combat) shred to pieces a cruiser with its paper armor and lower HP pool. Yes, they are more vulnerable to torps than cruisers, but they have the biggest pool of HP and heal ability, so they can compensate for more received hits. Due to this, assuming a decent torpedo run, a cruiser would be hit by 1 torpedo while a battleship might eat 2 and would still be better off overall than the cruiser. What people confuse are the characteristics of ships and gameplay displayed with those ships. The main reason why BBs are vulnerable now, excluding a few issues with armor which will be fixed with next patch, is due to gameplay exibited by a large percentage of population. Too many players, even when escorting the BB at the beginning, run away at first sight of enemy (even in cases of overmatch against the enemy). As cruisers are able to disengage much quicker than a battleship, BBs then tend to remain alone being focused by usually 2-4 enemy ships. Lets be honest, even in WoT two meds will shred to pieces a lonely heavy tank, let alone 4 of them - in such situation they are dead in a matter of seconds, i.e. last even less than a battleship against multiple cruisers. And no one is arguing that heavy tanks are snipers....

Brawlers - which ships will fit this role?

@OP BBs should be the "brawlers" no matter the nation. The fact that many players now are using them as "snipers" does not mean it is their intended or best role. DDs to my opinion do not fit the role of brawlers in the strict sense, but I rather see them as "assassins". They are good in the early game for capping (and cap pressure) due to their speed, scouting and laying smoke to cover the main fleet movement to positions. Combat wise, they are best suited for sneaky close torpedo runs against targets who are engaging other ships and have their turrets not pointing at you.
  23. Also for your information, unlike WoT there are no class restrictions. Any commander of the same nation can be for example used in the premium ship you have without any retraining needed. For example you can use your US cruiser commander in your Sims destroyer (if you bought it), or any other ship class, as long as it is in the US tree. This can help you speed up the grinding of skill points quite a bit.
