Big ranked battles compilation thread so we dont have multiple other threads discussing the same thing.

I also find this season much more enjoyable than previous ones. Though the enjoyment is still far cry from the one I had when RB were first introduced on PT. In those 2 days I played maybe 30-40 matches and had great fun since almost all that participated had an understanding on what should be done (despite even bigger language barriers). -
I am one of those 82% Imho it all boils down to player preferences about game predictability. Those who prefer highly predictable games will always be against cyclones, dispersion... Those like me who find predictable games less exciting, challenging and life like, will support it. So none of those groups of players is either right or wrong for that matter. It just matters what the majority of population prefers, and for the time being its in favor of cyclone introduction. THB I am not very happy with only 10% chance of cyclone. Taking into account the rather low likelihood and that sometimes I do not survive to make it until the cyclone, in practice this means that I expect to be in cyclone match maybe once every 30 games. If unlucky that can easily climb to say once every 50-60 games. Too few in my opinion.

Standard Battle mode removed for tier VII-X games
daki replied to Aotearas's topic in General Discussion
@OP: Some valid points, yet also some less so - More lenient economy will not imho motivate players to play more aggressively. If anything most of passive players would understand it as basically "reward" for passive play. For example with existing economy they were in red with credits or close to zero. With more lenient one they will start making money so they are even more motivated not to take damage and actively fight as they would now be able to grind credits with high tier ships without much problems. This further means that they will not be forced to drop tiers to finance high tier matches which in turn means that there will be more of passive players on average in high tiers.... quite a nasty vicious circle. - If anything cruisers are now better than ever in fighting DDs. Lets not forget the addition of radar, SA bug especially (or better say feature ), increased detection distance of torpedoes, extended sonar duration...In other words CAs are much stronger vs DDs then say 6 months ago. I never had real issues in fighting DDs with CAs. In fact I would say that the vast majority of ships I sank in high tier CAs were DDs. Where I suffer most is from BBs - expected of course as actively fighting DDs exposes one to almost all BBs on the enemy team. - Key to solve some DD and other imbalances happening in high tiers is to improve the CV class and make it more popular. There I fully agree with you. Without the CV class being consistently present in matches, no amount of changes of other class will be able to fix the high tier meta. All in all, imho carrots will not work, so we need sticks to promote more aggressive play. Such as: reduce team sizes to say 8v8 or 9v9; Decrease gun range of top tier BBs or change their gun dispersion to be more "non-linear" (much better accuracy at close range and much worse at max range to discourage max range fighting); decrease map size... Removing standard battle mode in top tiers is one step in that direction in my opinion. Of course it will not solve the passive play issue but at least domination tends to punish it wile standard mode tends to motivate passive play. -
Congrats to all winners At least it is good to see that a high percentage of population seems to have received the bonus. I hope I will have more luck next time

Thanks for the straight answer at least, much appreciated. WGEU management should seriously consider changing the marketing team (if you could even call it that) as campaign after campaign they waste valuable marketing budgets without generating positive effect. I would have been fired 10x already for much less screw-ups than this
-
Hahaha, CV class is so overpowered and so easy to do well with, that I heard that WG is considering removing the cap of 2 carriers per battle in random as MM is having issues with huge CV numbers in queues . Also, for ranked I heard that WG is planning to introduce CV only matches for rank 10 or better players to reduce the strain on MM due to excessive CV numbers in the queue
-
Well, that is true no matter the class so why single out CVs? As an example, a team with competent destroyers against banana ones also becomes a very one-sided affair. Judging from some comments on the forums it seems to me that the only solution to make a lot of posters happy about the game balance, would be for WG to scrap all classes, ships and maps and introduce those bathtub boats from 1st of April event . Though I am sure people would find reasons to complain about the balance even then

And for those of us who did not receive the e-mail does it mean "tough luck matey" or will more e-mails be sent? Tbh I could not care less if the bonuses are delayed due to bugs as I know they will be fixed, but I would definitely like to know if I will get them eventually or not. To note, I am not upset for not getting it since its not like anyone had to grind or do something to get it, nor do I suffer from the entitlement syndrome, nevertheless a clear communication about number of prizes, how they are awarded (lottery or certain criteria)... would at least made this event meaningful. Its sad to see how WGEU almost always manages to screw-up and squander already very limited marketing budgets (compared to other regions at least), on events and actions which as we can see from the comments here create quite a bit of uproar and dissatisfaction. Since according to Support they will not forward any feedback via tickets about the events to WG responsibles, I am kindly asking you to forward to your superiors that this rather huge amount of premium time and other prizes given out in total, would have been much better spent on for example: - More GNB rewards - Prizes to Team Battles paricipants - More Ranked battles prizes, etc.

I do not really follow the logic. T7 premiums are weaker / less capable than T8 premiums in their respective tiers. If anything in this season WG reduced the "Wallet Warrior" impact. -
Campers gonna camp no matter what. At least now they are not going to be rewarded for such playstyle. If they do not support caps, they will lose (instead of generally winning as it is now in standard mode). With losses they will lose tons of credits. With more lost credits and lost games, we will see less of them - imho one of the best changes in the patch. Now I fully understand that it might negatively influence the "damage farmers" chasing useless campers hugging the border at A1 while the team is being decimated, but I personally have very little sympathy for such players. Regarding cyclone, usually the most important stuff is in parenthesis so let me quote it to you: ...(with a10% chance of a Cyclone occurring during battle)... In other words you will not see much of those.
-
Maybe because there was positive feedback as well? I personally find the changes positive. Now the bashing can start

Calling someone a "coward" in a war-themed game is an insult no matter how you try to spin it. Surely I hope you do not believe it is a compliment to your fellow captain. Speaking of insults, I find your post insulting so: REPORTED!

Naaah, it must be ST conspiracy

Thanks for the tip mate Unfortunately: Captain, there are no available bonuses at the moment. Keep an eye out for upcoming events, which will be announced on the Portal! I am a sad kitty

ranked - first player of losing team dont lose a star , how to waste everybody time
daki replied to Xmen's topic in General Discussion
People tend to exaggerate things quite a bit. Q: Can someone "freeload" to top ranks (e.g. 5 or better)? A: Yes in theory, but short of having skill, it must be an unbelievably lucky player since the last guaranteed rank is 12. As there can be very few of those lucky bastards, we are at best talking of several players out of thousands and thousands taking part. One could even argue that such players born under the lucky star (or being favored by RNG gods), can be viewed as "positive" contribution to the team - some bring skill to the match and some bring luck Q: Are there really so many AFK-er or bots? A: Having played from rank 17 and now being at 12, I have seen so far 1 AFK player. Of course, I might be lucky, but before accepting that there are many of them I would expect to see some proof (e.g. larger number of screenshots with 0 xp players) from those who claim it. Q: Is the new star mechanic promoting destroyers and increasing their numbers? A: Not really, since RB from the introduction was a mode where destroyers play a notably bigger role compared to randoms. Also there was plenty of destroyers in previous seasons as well and I have not seen so far that there are more of them. Q: But, but I have very good arguments how this is "breaking" the gamemode..., how do you fail to understand that?? A: I do. You can have some good & valid arguments, but that does not necessarily mean that you are right overall. Here the main question is if the latest season has better overall rules & structure compared to the previous ones. There the only objective answer can be: Yes. This of course does not mean that there are no big issues to be fixed in RB, it just means that the trend is positive. My 2 cents -
Hmmm I have received no e-mail. Are all players eligible for this?
-
You get much more XP from randoms. Co-op is just good for testing ships, not grinding (excluding the low tiers)
-
No such thing as overpricing for items you neither need in RL nor are forced to buy. In other words an item is worth as much (or as little) as someone is ready to pay for it. Lets be honest, WG will keep the prices as long as they are happy with the demand, or they will adjust them in case they are not happy with the demand. So people can comment as much as they want on forums if something is expensive or not, but that will not be taken into consideration by WG financial department.

OP: the short answer is ship happens! Of course that you can have less losing streaks by playing better, but you will still have them no matter what (just less often). Just do no let people persuade you that a more camping style is the way to go. My worst streaks so far were, believe it or not, in Khabarovsk. After the first 50 games in it, my WR was a whopping 10%. Yeah you read correctly, 45 losses and 5 wins (in streaks of 10+ losses). While far from being a great player, I am no muppet either (at least not a big one). Even my stats in it were not that bad (55K damage, 1,1 kills per game...) in those first 50 games. What can I say, it was a mix of bad luck, a few bad teams and especially some (or better say a lot of) bad decisions/plays from my side. I did not give up with the ship (though I was close) and now I can proudly say that after little more than 300 games total, I am finally above 50% All in all, as long as you try to do your best and you do not let despair and stress influence you too much, the results will come. What will remain are the streaks (both winning and losing)

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
daki replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
really mate... just sad... go back to WoT... On topic: Met SkyBuckFlying in ranked today. He provided some great plane defense in his Rangers (shot down 43 planes). I also did quite well in Shchors but we lost nevertheless thanks to an epic Colorado camper in our team. At least as consolation I did not lose a star -
It will stay +-2. Unlike some other titles, no matter what some say, here in WoWs the tier difference is much milder. Even lower tier ships in a match can be very capable and decisive. Unfortunately there seems to be some people from WoT / AW who tend to give up and rage as soon as they see they are bottom tiers.

Some thoughts and impressions from my side after the weekend of RBs. Started also at rank 17. It was quite painful to reach rank 15 due to way too many players having very little idea what they are supposed to do. In those higher ranks the "bad" behavior was mainly concentrated around: - Destroyers not wanting to fight for caps. Some just wanted to chase CVs (though none managed to catch it in the matches I had), and some were "protesting" i.e. to quote form chat a player who was sailing close to cap circle without entering it "I will not cap at all unless the team gives me support" - saddest part was that CV planes were scouting the cap and it was empty of enemies... - Cruisers avoiding firing at destroyers (just focusing on BBs) with the claim that it is the sole job of destroyers to fight enemy destroyers - Battleships playing like in random (max range, sometimes even border hugging) All in all, about at least 2-3 players in my teams had basically zero clue on what to do in RB and how the playstyle is to be adjusted compared to randoms. After reaching rank 15 the quality improved significantly. The number of "clueless" people is reduced to about 1 per match. Of course here I do not count people who attempt to do the right thing but get rekt for various reasons - as it happens to me as well on occasions. Now I am 2 stars from rank 12, though we will see if it goes as easy as it was the case from 15 to 13. The chat is a bit more toxic which is to be expected, but still not to the level that would frustrate me. I have been called cheater only once. Though I have been called an idiot plenty of times . The funny part is that in all those games we won . To be honest I understand why I was called an idiot in several of them. Playing a DD I basically decided to go alone at one of the caps in order to spot enemy formation going to it / delay capture by enemy (to make a bigger points difference). Basically there was very little faith in my ability to contribute as evidenced by chat such as: "OMG idiot u will just die alone". My main motivation for playing RB: - Getting signal flags (quite nice prizes in that respect) - Enjoying less campy matches compared to random By far the best addition in mechanics is that the best player on the losing side does not lose a star. That saved me quite a bit of frustration so far -

Can it be exploited? Yes like any mechanic, but it is extremely rare that a camping BB would be able to get enough xp to be the first on list. I for one very much like this new rule. Much better for my nerves Just today I had 6 losses and 2 wins thanks to some epic teams, yet managed to have a net +1 star thanks to being top scorer in 5 out of 6 losses (playing a DD though).
