    Ranked battles, pointless?

Well said mate. It is normal I guess, as we fear loss more than we cherish the win. That is why we pay more attention to bad play than good one. The only thing I would add is that even good players have "brainfart" moments or just lack of luck, making them look like bad players. In other words, there are even less bad players in higher ranks than it looks like.

    Ranked battles, pointless?

I would suggest that you think harder. If you find it difficult, then I would suggest that you read ranked related topics harder, as all answers can be found there. Last but not least, when you write I would suggest you read it before you publish it. In your first 2 lines there seems to be an awful lot of "male" related fixations . I would guess that the followers of the Freudian school of thought could make plenty of comments about it All in all I would suggest that you work a bit more on the thinking, reading and writing skills. Not only will people take you more seriously, but it will also answer a lot of your questions before you ask them publicly saving you some embarrassment. Edit: My comments may sound mean, but I made them only having what is good for you in my mind

    Aim mods

Wow, just what we needed, yet another aim-mod thread... Quite peculiar that they tend to be popping-up over weekends when our forum mods are usually nowhere to be seen. Pls close mods.
  4. Not necessarily. It seems to me that most people forget that we are still early in the season (more than one month left), much more stars are needed compared to previous season... Furthermore, due to limited number of players at rank 5 and the fact that it is a bracket limit as well, limiting matches to 5-2 rank (if I understood correctly), it takes much longer to level up due to queue waiting times.
  5. The poll question is very one-directional. I do find this last season borderline "great". But not due to any "skill based" MM. I for one do not believe in that concept as it is theoretical and not practical in nature (in case of WoWs). What drew me into it is: - 7v7 format which allows more personal influence on the final outcome. Both ways of course - we all have on one side great games but also major brainfarts and pure lack of luck from time to time. - Tons of signal flags which I use frequently - Tons of credits, now I am at around 30 millions collected (mainly thanks to Sims and all credit boosts) - -10% repair cost flag despite it lasting another 1 month and 5 days (my only goal for this season i.e. at least rank 10) - and who knows, possibly even more since the season has just basically started.
  6. Agreed there. This is why one could say that T8 may be a bad choice. In case of higher ranks T10 is a better choice but availability for players may still be the issue. Speaking of mid tiers, T7 is also very interesting in my opinion based on RB experience. There are some premiums there but nothing like T8. T6 could be also great (possibly with option to take T5 for destroyers). Also, WoWseLeagues it is always good to try to be original. T8 was already seen plenty of times in team-based gameplay with well known issues. Maybe its time to try something new, and maybe the start is the perfect time to do it. Do not be afraid to experiment
  7. Always good to see such initiatives. Good luck and I hope it will bring a lot of fun and exciting matches, and strong participation. I will for sure follow and watch (and who knows maybe even play if I find a team ) @MrConway Good move to move the thread here so it gets some additional exposure
  8. What is TMT Mafia? It is The Marketing Team of WGEU Why "mafia"? To my opinion WGEU marketing team and Mafia share a number of similarities since: 1. Its a shadowy team that seems to be running outside any type of control from WG 2. They continuously breach the "laws" (meaning best practices and principles of marketing) 3. Their "efforts" negatively influence both WG as a company and the community at large Why this poll now? 1. Because the pace of fails is rapidly increasing 2. We have so many polls about ships, mechanics... yet none or very few about the marketing which is a crucial area when trying to sell virtual goods 3. Maybe, just maybe, WG staff on forums will have the courage and ability to pass this type of feedback to WG management (before the TMT mafia intercepts it and blocks it) Though my opinion is rather clear from the thread title and above comments, I would very much like to hear the opinion of rest of community. Thank you in advance for your participation and contribution
  9. Excellent suggestion! It would add quite a bit to viewer understanding of how the battle is flowing. Not to mention how much it would help casters who at the same time have to talk, operate camera, follow the battle... Really great effort and casting Crysantos and Bloodlegend

    TMT "mafia" strikes again

I consider them separate as well, so I do not bundle them together (sorry if my post implied that). But I am afraid that the community team has to pass any marketing related feedback only to marketing team (and not to devs or management). This is why I hope there is some way for them to do it by maybe bypassing TMT. Imho I see very few alternative explanations about the abysmal marketing efforts despite community feedback, other than suppression of feedback from community to devs and management. I tried via Support and got a response that basically such type of feedback will definitely not reach the devs and the only way is via forum feedback - which just lends credibility to feedback suppression theory (conspiracy maybe ).

Some interesting info around the world

I chose Hydro on most CAs since: - CVs are not that frequent - I have vigilance on most captains (and Target Acquisition System Mod. 1 in case of many high tiers) - I like to play aggressively and mainly chase DDs (since very few teammates do it) - I am not afraid of smoke or high repair costs All in all it just depends on your playstyle. If you hunt DDs then it is a nice and useful addition. If you like to provide anti air support for your teammates that Defensive AA Fire is a better choice.

    Nice Event Wargaming!

TMT mafia strikes again. ("The Marketing Team" of WGEU that is) Seldom can one see such a huge disconnect between the marketing people and the product... I think they deserve a place in marketing textbooks under the chapter "Bad advice"
  13. There are Ranked leaderboards on shipcomrade.com so maybe there they get some stats there. The thing though is that damage done is about the most useless stat in Ranked. Hence I would generally disregard all those posts trying to argue something with damage stats. All in all, since you are basically fighting in the same tier (i.e. you will not encounter +2 tier ships) the best ship for you is the one you feel most comfortable in and can get good results with. To give an example, if you say like Pepsicola and do well with, it is pointless to be rushing to get Shchors for example and then learning the ship in Ranked.
  14. I am The secret is not to pay attention exclusively to "frustrating" games. In my experience so far in higher ranks (15 or lower) well over 60% of games was with decent teams and decent MM. Of course, there are some quite frustrating games, but so is the case in Randoms as well. Unlike there, at least here I earned tons of signal flags, about 25 mln credits (mainly thanks to cash printing machine called Sims pimped with credit flags, GNB cammo...), and the -10% repair cost flag. That flag received at rank 10 was basically my main goal for the season. As going from 17 to 10 was much easier than I expected and there is plenty of time left until the end of season, I expect to earn quite a bit of additional credits and a few additional signals if I manage. At which rank I will finish, I do not care much. So yeah, lots of credits & rewards, better mechanics than last season, less frustrating than any of the previous seasons... Whats not to like? Of course, it is far from perfect and needs still a lot of improvements, but being an older gamer maybe I am not as demanding as the newer generations and still can have tons of fun with less than perfect games / modes.
  15. Looks very interesting. I have watched 2 matches so far but I plan to see them all. I am pleasantly surprised by the variety of tactics. Some of them while seeming quite strange at first glance in fact turned out to be very effective. I wish this type of events was more promoted, both here on forums and on WG website. I guess CCs could help with that . I failed to catch the announcement in the video section and I would have loved to watch the streams live. Please next time announce it in General Discussion as well. I would rather see that, then tons of crap topics All in all, good job!

    Question :)

In addition the survival rate is a whopping 46%! Extremely campy playstyle Be more aggressive! Stop hiding in the back!!

    Goodbye friends

Good luck mate Wish you all the best in your future career. Thanks for the contribution to the community. I know the community treated you unfairly on a few occasions, however this does not mean that your contribution has not been appreciated
  18. I just love when people talk about facts - I guess you could then post those replays where so many camping BBs manage to be top scorers? Speaking of pushing in, I have encountered the following scenarios (playing a DD in case of losses) with campy teams: 1. Fail to cap due to being rekt by enemy - usually last on the scoreboard 2. Manage to cap and die rather quickly while the rest of team is camping - quite often top score 3. Manage 1 or 2 caps (or a cap and few resets), die or survive does not matter, while the team is camping - almost guaranteed top score All in all, there is of course a high risk, but also a high reward and more often than not it pays off to be aggressive. You being a skilled player, I would expect that in most of your losses you are under 2. or 3. so on average it pays off if you are aggressive despite occasional fails.
  19. TBH it seems to me that you are now borderline trolling I am yet to see those camping BBs being top scorers in the loss in large numbers which you imply. Caps/decaps are significantly more rewarded than damage, so those sitting in the back farming damage and not fighting for objectives have a very low chance of being able to farm so much damage to exceed XP of fellow teammates who were fighting for objectives. Of course it might happen occasionally, but that is an exception and not the rule. It seems to me that some campers obviously irritated you heavily in RB before you came here to comment, so rage is understandable, nevertheless in my opinion it is still a BS post.

    Patch 0.5.7 postponed to 23/06

Not always due to "stupidity". There are several reasons why showing a broadside (beyond stupid play) is often unavoidable in situations such as: 1. Dodging torps from DDs/CVs 2. Being focused by several ships and trying to disengage 3. While trying to avoid showing broadside to another BB Of course you can always say that anything that brings you into such situation is "stupid play", but then it means that the only "smart" play tends to be passive/camp style - which as a matter of principle and opinion I do not support. Hence in this sense it is OK for me if CAs are not always punished as it would do very little to promote "skill" and quite a bit to promote camping. So yeah, while I fully understand your perspective since you are a skilled player, there is really no need to make the game even more frustrating for CAs while making it even easier for especially BBs to score hits & cits.
  21. Just relax Keep in mind that 1 month and 8 days are left. Still plenty of time. Since you are at rank 11, if you get frustrated you can even take a week off and still have plenty of time to advance to top ranks. I would say that the biggest problem with ranked players is "burnout". Starting too aggressively the season and getting frustrated (understandably) by team quality especially in weaker ranks. Moving from rank 17 to 15 was a very unpleasant (and tedious) experience to me. Now I am at 11 and teams are much better. Of course, there is always some amount of stupid play (me being guilty as well ), but on average much less than in previous ranks.
  22. Another possible way to look at it is that those very lucky players who got the prizes might become less lucky during matches (as luck tends to balance out) and will have to suffer more from random cits & such So in fact it might even be good to fail to win the lottery

    Fighter spotting planes OP?

As said, its a legit tactic. This should motivate you to try to communicate with your team to help you out. No matter what some are saying here on forums, it is the teams who communicate/coordinate better that are winning in most cases and not necessarily the teams that have more "good" players compared to the enemy team.
  24. Generally yes, but not quite The so called "bad" players are always there. What changes imho is the frequency. In other words during the events such players tend to play more games and be more active compared to better players in order to claim the prizes - hence it just seems that there are more of them Furthermore, this being a team dependent game, good players teamed with bad ones in such situation are having more difficulty in contributing to the team success - you can have say 2 top players on the server in the team who will still manage to do very little if the majority of the team just folds - hence it also just seems that there are less good players than there actually is. Last but not least, based on the above, a lot of good players take it as granted that the quality of teams will suck during events or weekend bonuses, and they do not try as hard as they usually do - hence also adding to the impression that there are more "bad" players. All in all we have quite a nasty little vicious circle which I do not see how can be broken - so we just have to learn to live with it The biggest challenge for WG is to find a balance between the value of prizes/bonuses given out compared to "normal" times in order not to promote the above behavior, yet still making them meaningful enough in order for them not to be viewed as pointless or "cheap" for the community.
  25. No need to be so salty mate Actually you did not have to pay anything, nor do anything, in order to get this prize. To joke a bit, do you see people whining about losing at a lottery despite actually paying the price? Would you also say that the lottery company prefers money from some participants vs others? I also did not receive it. Despite my opinion that they could have handled the event much better (and could have spent the marketing budget much better), the only thing I can say is GJ to WG for giving out what it seems a large number of prizes, and congrats to all winners.
