IJN cruisers have a higher chance of setting enemies on fire (at least with guns above 200mm). It also depends on where you are hit. Afaik there are special zones on every ship where fire can be set when they are hit with HE shells.

Is New Orleans an upgrade from Pensacola?
typhaon replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
Well having gone only up to the Aoba yet, I don't see the torps as the best advantage of IJN cruisers over their USN counterparts. In fact what I find best is the range advantage and rather good accuracy. -
If you want your games unchanged for the most part, you should stop playing online games alltogether... they basically evolve around new content and buffs and nerfs of old content.

Tripitz - big wtf - invulnerable to fire form 200 mm?
typhaon replied to Nevercalled3's topic in Battleships
Yes I have and I did... of course you won't cause citadell hits most of the time, because your shots won't reach far enough inside, but with my Aoba, I could easily score salvos of 3-5k dmg... paired with the good RoF I had a sweet time... well that was until I was blown out of the water by a multi-citadell-hit, but that happens against any enemy all the time with Furutaka and Aoba. -
typhaon replied to boarhunter's topic in Schiffsvergleiche
It's basically a nerf for Kuma and Mogami cruisers... all other cruisers from T5 upwards still have their higher chance of setting enemies on fire. And furthermore, with 203mm guns you only need to rely on HE shells against the best armored BBs...

Tripitz - big wtf - invulnerable to fire form 200 mm?
typhaon replied to Nevercalled3's topic in Battleships
Maybe you should use AP ammo then? 203mm guns can and will do good damage on most BBs, including the Tirpitz... most of the hits do great damage unless the enemy is well angled. Don't rely on setting fire... furthermore ship parts, that have been destroyed by HE shots (shown as black), cannot take HE damage anymore... that's why enemies that were gunned down with HE can become almost invulnerable to HE ammo. -
Only vehicles, that can be purchased ingame, are shown in the tech trees. Ships that are just part of packages, don't show up in the tech trees.

Propellers should not spin while ship is stationary.

They even spin in harbor... -
1. DDs are the ones, that benefit most from that skill, because it's essential for them to remain hidden and to know when they cover is busted. Of course it's also useful for other ships, but it still doesn't tell you who spotted you. In most cruisers and BBs you are spotted most of the time anyway, so you only use the skill at the start of a battle. 2. Yeah, but that will most likely apply to higher tier captains, which means that that's on those tiers where torps can come in higher numbers and larger spreads. 3. Well CVs are a totally different topic... there's still much to do with them. 4. Well, you got no armor at all, so it is to be expected, especially when you are hit with large shells. But at least at range it's not that easy to score a clean hit as a BB. 5. Yeah, it's a pretty powerful skill, but so is defensive AA fire... and since there are much more planes in the air than DDs around, especially on higher tiers, most cruisers will take the AA buff. And you can only detect one torp attack early... the next one will come during the cooldown. 6. Yeah, it's hard to find the balance with smoke screens... personally I'd make them last a little shorter but being deployed a little longer for compensation. The problem is, that you cannot cover a sufficient large area to cover your attack. Most DDs use it while escaping or attacking and both usually don't need as much time as the smoke lasts... but they would benefit from a larger area that could be covered. 7. The Minekaze was simply OP going around like a ghost shooting torps from all angles... it's one of the reasons, why there are so many complaints about invisible DDs. And even worse, it made the Mutsuki look like a step down on the next tier. 8. Same here... still you can come close enough to launch torps without being detected. Alltogether tables turn on higher tiers making DDs really difficult to play. So many (also experienced) players stay at the lower tiers which means that they are seal clubbing newbies... and since WG buffs or nerfs depending on the overall battle results of a certain ship type, they balance it according to the "wrong stats".

Don't underestimate the speed of DDs when they throw in their speed boost. And there are no hacks in WoWS. It's nearly impossible to hack WG games since all data is calculated server side... the client and only show the information it is given by the server and send the keyboard commands... so you cannot alter the behaviour of any ships or shells in the game. And as long as there is no obstacle between you and the enemy (including smoke) there is no way to stay invisible when coming closer than the listed detection range (save for camo or captain skills). But as long as you don't provide replays, nobody can check what went wrong. There is no reason to not activate replays, as they don't affect the performance of the game in any noticable way.
-
Well if you want a comparison between WT and WoWS (or Gaijin and WG in general) it's most likely like ARMA with realism mods vs. Counterstrike. They both share the same era of history, but gameplay is very different. I like them both though.

Tirpitz und Ihre Auswirkung auf WoWs
typhaon replied to Hagenstein's topic in Allgemeine Diskussionen
Naja Schere, Stein, Papier. -
Biggest waste of time are your threads...

Which DD has less than 5km detection range? Can you provide a replay? Don't underestimate the speed and manouverability of DDs... I can remember one battle where I was sure that I had cornered a DD with my CA without any chance of escape only to see that he had actually been fast enough to get past me and appear just on the other side of the map only minutes later.

Afaik torpedo nets were used as torpedo defense when a ship was anchored, not during battles. Trying to hit torps with guns might have been a desperate effort to fight torps that could not be evaded, but it would be better known, if it was a common tactic. Usually the guns that would be capable of destroying torps would be busy with shooting the target that fired them... or in case of submarines, they would most of the time notice torps too late. But subs are a different story and don't matter in WoWS. There were only two defensive measures against torps in reality: evasive manouvres and bulge armor... and both are featured in WoWS. Furthermore you get an additional defense as a cruiser with the sonar ability... don't underestimate that feature, it's really effective and will most likely save you from most torps.

-
Meistens erledigt sich das nach einer Neuanmeldung.
-
Basically it's damage=XP... the more damage the better your XP... it doesn't matter how you achieved with damage... good players need less hits because of citadell hits. Aside from that, there are several other factors like kills (little influence), base capping or defending, or the tier difference between you and your target (meaning higher enemies give more XP).
-
-
Well ok, actually it was only one in closed beta. But still I have played both nation's BB lines up to T4 and didn't see a problem. The Kawachii is a little short in range, but you can really well close in blow others out of the water. And the South Carolina wasn't so bad. Myogi and Wyoming were both fun to play.
-
-
The real question is: Why did you get so close anyway? As a IJN DD you should stay far enough away from the enemy to stay hidden and spam torps. If you want to go in for a close range kill, you should probably try US DDs.
