Are the Atago's guns not sufficient enough to penetrate Tirptiz's Armor?
typhaon replied to CatOnKeyboard's topic in General Discussion
The Tirpitz is a brawler with good belt armor and another very thick layer of citadel armor behind it. It's very hard to penetrate both of them. The only way to score citadel hits with cruiser guns in a Tirpitz is at max range with impacts on the deck armor. -
T9 Essex oneshotting a T10 Montana in one attack run.
typhaon replied to Pupu_prpr's topic in General Discussion
So you managed to kill a lonely BB in a CV... that's why this is a teamplay game... one CA with running AA defense would have screwed the drops... -
There is +/-3 tiers in WoWS... this is not WoT...

Why WG can't run Co-op games with more than 8 players?
typhaon replied to tacomaco's topic in General Discussion
Yes, because players would be able to get to T10 by playing against the same stupid bots and those bad players would ruin the games in normal PvP later... What's so bad about playing against real players? Just because it can be more challenging? -
Help us save barrel 270 in memory of the IOWA 47

+1 100k $ would do much better when being used to make peoples' lives better instead of saving some piece of metal... -

Well it was always like that, that the harbor values do not really tell you something about the strength and weaknesses of a ship. Since the artillery value takes things like range, reload time, accuracy, alpha damage and penetration (and possibly even more) into consideration, you can't say what makes it so good or bad. Furthermore it's all a matter of taste... you are right, the 155mm guns have a higher base DPM... but you only do full damage upon penetration... which is near impossible except against DDs at T8. So 203mm might do better against other cruisers with citadell hits while you might be better of against BBs with the 155mm guns and HE shells. Personally I don't give much about the harbor values... what matters are the details and how they fit to your playstyle.

Your link shows 2 hits and 1 crit which is perfectly possible. But to answer your question: You can score critical hits on engine and rudder with HE shells that explode near a ship without a direct hit. That is sometimes the case when firing at DDs with larger guns.
-
The second one is a problem if the engine and is already visible in WoT... the client only plays animations that are currently in view, not behind you. So when you then look at an animation that should have started a short time before, it starts too late.

If you think the Phoenix is bad, you should stay away from the Furutaka.

Tirpitz cheeper on other servers. Thanks WG
typhaon replied to Armo1000's topic in General Discussion
First of all, I don't whine, I just comment with my oppinion. Second: So you think it would be better to let people who are not right think, that they are right? Actually that would be like: let stupid people stay stupid (not that I think that the OP is stupid, but that would be the ultimate consequence) And last but not least: a forum is a place where people can discuss various oppinions... that's the whole damn reason for making a forum, and not giving people a platform where they can pat themselves on the shoulders for having the same oppinion. See, we got a head and a brain to think and to question things, not to nod at everything that others say... But back on topic. I guess the price difference might have something to to with the average income of the different regions and with the popularity of certain things. It was pretty clear that players in Europe would go crazy on such an iconic ship like the Tirpitz and that they would be willing to pay more for it than in other regions. Don't know about the Asian playerbase, but I guess they will be willing to pay more for Asian content... I remember that there was a golden Type-59 on the Asian WoT-Servers which was really expensive (like more than 100$ or so) and there were players that bought it... Once the first wave of interest has gone, I think they will introduce other ways or packages to buy the Tirpitz, perhaps through special events... WG did that in WoT all the time... new premium content was very special and expensive first, but quickly becase cheaper later. -
Please allow players to accelerate crew training on elite ships like in WoT
typhaon replied to Ewokgod's topic in General Discussion
I agree that the base skill make a difference, but then again, the amount of XP needed to get to 100% is rather low, retraining always costs the same, no matter how many secondary skills the commander has, secondary skills stay in effect, even though you have not reached 100% base skill yet. And for the same amount of XP, the difference in WoWS is much bigger than in WoT... just look at the first line of skills with such important skills like situational awareness or basic firing training. You can't make such a big difference in such a short time in WoT. The bonuses are much higher WoWS as well, especially considering that many thing in WoWS take much more time than in WoT, so percentage bonuses are even better noticable. -
USS Omaha: What makes the gun upgrade worth 3000XP?
typhaon replied to Jagdpants_666's topic in Cruisers
Well increased RoF is basically directly increased DPM, so I guess it's worth it, unless you feel like going in close combat or wiggling around a lot. But since the common tactics in Omaha seem to be goind straight at the enemy while shooting all front guns, I think it doesn't require that much traverse speed. -
Afaik it's enough if you damage all compartments... just one single destroyed compartment won't sink the ship. Furthermore I'm not sure if the repair of BBs restores compartment HPs... from my experience they compartments remain destroyed and thus immune to HE shells. And about the fire damage: it's not only about the chance of setting fire, but also about the area that you've hit. One of the last patches (0.4.1 maybe) mentioned a change on one ship regarding the places where HE shells can set fire. Together with the rather small damage radius of the Cleveland's guns, it may be hard to hit the right spots to set the enemy ablaze.

Machine guns could only harm the crew of a ship, not the ship itself in most cases... and since there are usually several hundred crew members on board, a strafing run would not really influence the combat capability of a ship. Crew losses were replaced within seconds. So at best, it would be able to take down small AA guns. I don't think that they could start a fire...
-

typhaon replied to Ewokgod's topic in General Discussion
The difference between crews in WoT and commanders in WoWS is, that the commanders really do make a difference. Commander bonuses in WoWS are much better and have a bigger impact on the battles than most skills in WoT, which don't give you any noticable advantage, unless you use special interfaces, that show certain numbers. -
Well, irony has something to do with subtle, funny criticism with some hints... your post was just the usual rant, doesn't matter if you use quotation marks...

Was für Replay Dateien?

Tirpitz cheeper on other servers. Thanks WG
typhaon replied to Armo1000's topic in General Discussion
I don't understand why you complain about the pack... if you think it ain't worth it's price, then don't buy it... Eventually you will most likely be able to buy it without any additional stuff. And last but not least: it's clearly no must have, especially since you can get the Bismarck for free in the near future... -
Lol, there is no premium MM... Premium gives you 50% increased XP and credits... and that's exactly what you get for your money... if you think that's not enough, don't buy premium...

St. Louis is an armored monster for T3... the citadel is pretty much where you would guess: below the smoke stacks. You can easily penetrate it with larger guns like 203mm or above, but with 155mm you will have a hard time.
