I find it that ships with lots of superstructure are way more prone to HE damage. Fuso for example, which has little to no superstructure apart from its christmas tree, is almolst untouchable. Ships like Hindemburg though will eat HE for breakfast and want more.

What is determining a “good player?” (he/she)
Kazomir replied to Ferry_25's topic in General Discussion
Anyone who can play a tier 8 cruiser and not die in the first 10 minutes is good in my book. -
Are country vs country modes considered in WoWS?

And that was mostly to the Hellcat and КВАС being overpowered as [edited]. -

Yet the IJN DDs will get crushed by the USN Gunboats and from then on in even the superior IJN Cruisers (Ahem, Des moines can and would wreck a Zao in some circumstances, and Monty is getting buffs to "Nearly all her characteristics" soon too) and BBs wont be able to save a team with no DDs. -

Disclaimer: Not anime women. In all fairness. A good player is determined by several stats and also several factors that are not listed on statistics such as ability to communicate with teammates and divisionmates. -
Cruisers and their obsolete catapult fighters. (Plus musings on Tone)
Kazomir posted a topic in General Discussion
Since it has been mentioned some times lately, I want to share something that has bugged me a lot. During WW2, IJN Cruisers had catapult launched planes. Their role was scouting, and that is why IJN carriers did not carry spotter planes. It was simply a Cruiser's job to do that. I am not sure about USN cruisers that also had catapults, but I assume that is the same for them, since it would be kinda illogical to carry a floatplane onboard that was designed to defend against air attacks, because: 1. Floatplanes are bad fighters compared to normal ones and 2. a Cruiser would only be able to launch several planes (at best, the aviation cruiser Tone carried about 7, most of them scout planes) compared to an attack conducted by a Carrier. In game, Cruisers carry Fighters that are totally useless in their role, as they get shot down immediately, even by dive and torpedo bombers. Their only use is (you guessed it) scouting, usually they are deployed to spot torps and/or nearby destroyers near the cruiser. My proposition is that: Remove the obsolete "Figher" planes on cruisers, especially IJN ones, as it is downright unhistorical, and make it so Cruisers can now launch Scouting planes. Scouting planes can be sent to a given area in a certain distance from the cruiser in order to conduct, you guessed it, scouting for a given period of time over that area, after which they return in order to be serviced by the cruiser (some minutes cooldown) . The cruiser only loses a charge of the plane if it is shot down. Tone-class cruisers' speciality is the scouting plane. Unlike most other cruisers, Tone can launch up to two of them (others can launch only one at a time) and It can service them way faster than normal cruisers, defining it as a proper aviation cruiser. In night battles Once they come, these planes will drop flares ontop of enemy ships if they spot them, revealing them to the team from a much farther range tha a ship can reveal another via searchlights. Now hire me as a game designer goddamnit. -

Replying to the second part of your post: Yeah, but in a fighter role, they are useless. Because they are fighters and they are not used for what they are intended at all. Thats why I want to expand their role as scouts rather than misplaced fighters. -

Extremely easy is not likely, since the plane can only be launched at a given area up to like 10km from the cruiser and it stays there for a time that is not that long. In effect being way less effective than a proper Radar (that takes the place of a plane if placed on an american cruiser) that reveals everything in a radius from the cruiser, or a Hydro search, that reveals torps aswell. Plus, Its kinda a Cruiser's job to shut down torpedo attacks by destroyers. -

I had hoped having good Karma would bring bonuses like having commemorative flags (with or without credits/xp modifiers) getting normal flags or other types of rewards, while reports against a player could only be issued once a player has acted badly, and only by the friendly team. (so no spiteful reporting occurs)

Aoba is a cruiser 1 tier higher than you and also has defensive AA barrage ability. Coupled with the fighter you are lucky you had any DBs left after that endeavour. Pocket Fighters used to be so much more powerfull before, often wiping fighter/bomber squadrons on their own.

Play good means be careful, stay at the back, run at first sight of something that can sneeze at you and take half your HP off. Fire from invisibility, allways take Concealment expert except if you are not in a BB.

About Cleveland AA guns and tier V Bogue
Kazomir replied to MotornaTestera's topic in General Discussion
Just wait till the Texas. Its a Battleship, so one of its supposed counters is the Carrier class, but packs more defensive AA than a Cleveland -
There is completely no incentive to play aggresively at the moment. Repair costs and all that.

Taking interest in tactics should occur from the very first battle played. Talking about it, expressing views, even wrong ones, leads one to find out how and why he is wrong and therefore straightening out his views and strategical thinking. That is, if he is open to critique and discussion about it. If not, then there is nothing to be done. The OP is naive to believe people will follow instructions from someone random in ANY game, not just this one. As most people lack any form of intelligence or strategical thinking and one versed in this game should learn that his teammates are as much his enemies as are his real opponents, skilled players should know how to take advantage of their teammates' positions and act accordingly, using them as distractions or even meat shields when needed. Want strategy? Play in a division, or even better, team battles. Do NOT expect strategy in randoms, you won't get it.
-
"You do not have some arbitrary number of battles played, therefore you must be a fool incapable of thinking strategically" The whole notion is dumb.
-
HMS Caroline then.

While the thread lacks content or feedback of any sort, this is like the dumbest argument one could pull off.

[0.5.5] Free "Captain Skill Reset" for IJN DDs T8-10?

Or you could play almolst suicidally and hit ships with 15 torps that do 81 knots. Just for the lulz. -

RIOT!: where is turret bearing lock in RMB view?
Kazomir replied to anonym_gxxGX7KaxQVa's topic in General Discussion
I'd like two hotkeys to quickly lock turrets to port/starboard (if they are not in that position then they start turning towards it) without having to move my camera to where I want to aim. Is that so hard ? -
Nope. Im doing great with the aoba which is also a CA. But the furutaka is really bad. Cant compare to the other tier 5 cruisers at all.
-
You have better accuracy because your range is way shorter so you only shoot at reasonable ranges. Meanwhile with the Konigsberg you can shoot at 15km and miss a lot.
-
If you have the luck of being in range and having all your turrets on target and they hit... which is 10% of the time. Nah, sorry, furutaka is bad. Konigsberg, Omaha, Kirov, all better.
