Starting Battle - queue exceedingly full - no new battles start
SBS replied to namib_digger's topic in General Discussion
Gives the poor buggers a break Give the poor buggers a break. Don't you know you are supposed to switch them out with fresh ones every now and then? It keeps their spirits up and working at full efficiancy -
Well, Wyoming does have somewhat good AA, but only if the enemy hangs over you for a bit. AA at this tier is mostly meant to hurt the planes a bit and scare them of, not outright make no fly zones around ships. If you evade well in advance and force the planes to circle around you and spend more time in your AA range to try and get the right position for a drop, you can sometimes kill 1 or 2 planes before the drop. But in general with all low tier ships, do not count much on their AA.

So what you are basicly saying is that the MM doesn't allways put the same ship compositions vs the same ship composition and that players can choose to do different things in different battles on different maps based on different compositions, and then have the ability to adapt later on in the battle to what is going on? GASP!!! What a SHOCKER! I think he might actually have figured it out

I think the reason why they do is at they do, is to allow team mates to support each other a lot more than they overwise would be able to. Just think about the limited amount of teamwork we got in the game allready, if they made it harder to support other team members, would most even bother? I don't know what is the best idea, but maybe that is why they have done like they have?
-
And thats the thing, doing what helps you and your team to win the game is the best you can do. Regardless of if it means doing lots of damage or not.

Sorry. I guess I am just starting to get a little annoyed at seeing these thread pup up all the time. Edit: I qeued in pz 4 as well, but considering that pz 4 is my favourite tank in history, I might be biased
-
Would be completely flawed. Why would anyone want to qeue up in a DD then? Who wants to be the cannon fodder? They tried it with WoT, everyone chose tiger and panter on germans, no one wanted to play pz 4 or pz 3 in HB. Same with US, everyone chose m18 hellcat with 76mm, because nobody wanted to be the sherman going against a tiger with a 75mm. It was the same, there were 6 times the number of people qeueing up for germany than US. Warthunder had the same problem. Realistic or simulater battle, you bet nobody chose pz 4 if they could choose a tiger, so an entire german team of tiger fighting IS 1 were possible, be cause no pz 4 and T-34 are realistic ofcourse! Learn it! When people have a choice, they want to be the most powerfull thing ever! Why else do you think BB pllayers complain, because they aren't allways the most powerfull and want to be it, they just want an I win button and be invulnerable! Why is it that I allways see BB players complain then and not DD? Why don't you say that you will want you class of ship getting weaker while other gets more powerfull, cause that is what you are asking of others. This may well work in PVE games where bots can take up the role of the cannon fodder in T-34 while you slaughter them in your tiger, but it hardly works well in PVP. If all people can do is play a weak class and only get slaughtered, they just stop and do something else. Hell, even in real war nobody wants to be that cannon fodder, but in real war people to not have a choice. What you suggest just won't work in a multiplayer game where people have a free choice.

I have a feeling it is because they want to see how radar actually works and how it affects gameplay. Then they can make adjustments if nessecary without it affecting too many ships in the beginning.

The way I see it is that People who simply go to farm the most damage rarely focus on supporting their team and only want to earn high numbers, thus they end up loosing. This is epsecially bad as capping is vital in several game modes, sometimes it is better to go for less damage and do what is nessecary. Also, I consider shooting BB the last priority (the ones with most HP around) as they simply just tank your damage, and the time it can take to kill 1 BB, your team could focus down 2 cruisers or DD and really limit incoming return fire as well as enemy potential to cap. Also, I tend to focus fire ships other allies are shooting at, to kill enemies faster, and thus limit return fire. This ofcourse means that I have to share damage dealth with allies. Also, when playing DD, capping can be more important that killing. Actually this can be the case in all classes. Simply put, only focusing on damage can end up with the player leaving him team to day and loosing the game, because he didn't do his job. Sure, he can brag about a high damage count, but he still lost, so still worthless.

Sorry, but it would just make DD completely useless if they can't stealth. Especially at lower tiers where they have to get withon 7km or so to launch torps, even worse for russian and US DD who have to use guns. All cruisers would easily be able to shoot them. And BB would have no reason to fear anything, and thus just able to steamroll everything.

She does look good, but she it not very good. She is supposed to be a good AA ship for tier 4, at least that is what they advertised, but she isn't. Her guns are not ver good, her torpedoes have the worst arc of any ingame, and her modules get wrecket just as easily as on a destroyer. A shame really. she needs a buff

Except that we allready have the normal Yubari that served IRL in the game. It was available for purchase some time during CBT.
-
I have to say, I am still not entirely happy with how might peform, seems like it could be OP. Also, wonder if they will ever fix some of the OP russian clubbers like Emperor or Murmansk.

Nice to know, and thanks for the response

Not sure if it is that design Trigger. From the looks of the one in the video and the one from the design, they appear to have a different conning tower (I believe that is what it is called), also I am not sure if the one in the video have the smaller guns on the sides of the hull, but maybe they haven't been modeled in yet. But I do think you are right, that it is a paper ship, and not one that actually served. My first guess was a Dido class cruiser, untill I realized the forward gun turrets aren't placed right.

Agreed. I fully support this.

Thanks for continuing to share this info!

WG has on several occasions said that the MM only takes tiers in to account and it never will. They have said this since the early days of WoT and they continue to do so. That is why they call it "Random" battles. They have no illusions that teams can be miss matches with regards to skill, becayse their MM does not take it in to account. In WoT it only takes tiers in to account as well as a certain weight system. In WoWs it only considers tier and certain times ship type (like with CV). People complaining about no skill based MM. It is not the MM that is wrong, it simply doesn't exist. And for all though aware of this and asking for one, they have said they won't add it. At least we have Ranked battles and now team battles.
-
I suppose doing a simple 5 min search is too much for most people. How many topics have we had about that ship allready? I lost count.
-
That could work, or it could backfire spectacularly as the players who got it (probably can be expected to be players with high tier captains, who know what they are doing and lots of captain skills) suddenly get access to both fires from bombs and floodings. Also, if those 3 TB squad have the same spread as IJN TB then it is not as bad. Those 1000 pound bombs can hurt a lot, and they won't be so difficult to use by the skilled players. Those Bombs can also really cripple DD, and let's not forget that those planes are fast, they can easily get in to position to make the aim marker go alone the ship and have the greatest chance of hitting. My worry is how it can be bought. Is it available to everyone or only people with experience in CV? I am more worried in seeing a flood of Saipans like we saw with Tirpitz and Atago. Especially considering this is a CV, and a lot of people who could buy it probably have no idea what to do. Remember, CV has mirror MM, this means that each team may only have 1 or 2 CV, if you get the new guy/s who have no idea what they are doing, and the other team gets a regular CV player who is just half way decent, then this could mean a lot. Especially if it is a 1v1 CV battle, then there is no other CV to carry his bad performance.

Oh, we have wanted them to add a proper tutorial for a long while that explains the different mechanics. Maybe tutorials that are unlocked as you progress in the game. Just something. But hey, at least we got Coop battles where you can allways take new ships in to learn their playstyle and abilities before you go in to random battles, not that many people do this ofcourse.
-
If you want to have balanced setups with fighters, dive bombers and torpedo bombers at the same time, you should play japanese carreirs. US carriers are more specialised for either strike setup or fighter setup.
-
Well, not all of us can be a supertester
-
Well we have long had Abyssals Harbors and airfields. And last event we got land based abyssal bombers and with world 6-4 the abyssals got shore batteries. It is also rumored that we will get friendly land based bombers at one point. With all this, I can't help but wonder how spring will be, when the devs say it will be a "total war".
-
It can instakill up to 22 planes in one go, I have done it before. The thing is, carrier is perhaps the hardest one to learn and master as the strategies are so different from the other classes, and the abilities of planes are never told to people. Also, the management of planes are not the greatest considering it works like an RTS, so much could be done better. And it only gets harder to manage as you get better carriers and more squadrons. Not a good class for a new player.
