I for one hope that tier 10 never become completely self sustainable. Sure you should be able to earn a profit on a good game, but you should work for it, a lot. The reason why I do not want this, is that it will just make people go to tier 10 and then stay there, ignoring 90% of the game. I mean seriously, there are so many great, beautifull and historically important ships at mid and low tiers as well. Also, if people can only have fun at the last 10% of the game and that is the only thing they aim for, then maybe this kind of game isn't for them. That is ofcourse just my opinion. In any case, I really want and do hope that high tier economy is improved, but not that it makes low or mid tiers redundant. So many lovely ships around, no reason for the majority of them to be forgotten like in WoT, just because they aren't high tiers.

HB "What if" Reenactment: The hunt for the East Asia Squadron
SBS replied to chamorro's topic in Other
It might not be so easy for him. Afterall, with the new patch, it is no longer possible to view old replays. So he might be attempting to deal with what his got. In either case, looking forward to it.- 55 replies

Basicly only battleships here with one heavy cruiser, and most didn't accomplish that much. Is it just me, or are a lot of destroyers, carriers and cruisers (with exception of some heavy cruisers) really underappreciated?
-
Mostly those low tier exclusive premiums are either won through contests or gotten as part of a promotional deal when buying a grafix card or something like that from some dealers.
-
This could actually be usefull. Knowing what mad you do good on and what map you do badly on, could really help you to understand where you need to improve. I for one would deffinetly like this.

Wait what? Do you even know what ship Musashi is? Sunk at Guadalcanal? Maybe you need to learn about the entire battle of Leyte Gulf! Krisishima was sunk at Guadalcanal I believe along with Hiei?
-
Right, I had just heard 6 months total, didn't know it was only for modeling. And you are right on the second one. That is actually what I wanted to right, guess I let my temper run and wasn't thinking Thanks for the corrections
-
Well, the spring event has been confirmed to begin on the 2nd of may. Are you all ready for total war?

The premium camo that some ships can buy for Doubloons like Shoukaku, Fubuki, New Orleans and so on that cost 3000 Doubloons. Can you disable that camo (take it off) and then apply it again, without paying a second time? Basicly, can you do it with normal ships, like premium ships can do it with their camo?

So true, but then again, with germanys resource situation and geografical position, they were doomed on the seas from the start. Commerce raiding trying to starve britain was the only realistic chance they had on the sea. And with regards to Kriegsmarine or Royal Navy being important historically and which one should come first. Give it a [edited]break. The conversation has been discussed to hell and back. Just be happy that we get new ships. Also, complain to the archives and museums, they are the ones making it difficult to get access to the british info they need for a full Royal Navy fleet. It was once said in a Q&A that it takes 6 months to implement a ship (finding files/blueprints and so on, modeling it in game correctly with armor and dimensions, balancing it with other ships and then ironing out bugs). With a full team working on a tree you can probably push out just enough ship for 1 line in a tech tree every 6 months or so. And with problems getting the material they need from the british, just be thankful they are managing to work as fast as they are. Remember, ships are a lot more complicated than tanks. Expect things to be naturally slower and just enjoy what we have. Everything will come in due time

Okay, thank you all for your answers, I really appreciate it. The reason I am interested is that I sometimes think ships look better without camo and just like to play them like that sometimes. Also for those of us trying to do historical battles, we do not use camos, so being able to remove it and then reapply it at no extra cost is great. Thanks for it guys

I do not know if you are trolling or not, but I will give you the benefit of doubt, as you said you wanted a proper answer instead of picture responses, so I will try to respond to what you have said. Germany, the strongest navy in WW2? Well, they might have had some great surface ships that were causing trouble and putting fear in the british, but that was mostly in the sense of them disrupting the convoy, not really a threat to the british warship fleet. Sure, their U-boats were great, but guess what, so were british and US subs. Not we will ever have them in this game anyway, so no reason to even use them as an example? Also, best in army in WW2? Kicked everybodys asses? I don't even think you are aware how poorly prepared germany was for WW2 and just how far behind the allies they were. They won more on luck/betting adapting to the new war. Also, in 1940, the allies were poorly coordinated amongst each other. Sure, the germans did well, but you are blowing everything way out of proportion. I suggest you go read some actual books, prefferably from multiple different sources/sides of the war to get a more complete picture. Now to actually give an honest answer about the state of the game. The game has not even been out for one yer, and they usually only get out one or two line every 6 months or so, modeling ships is very complicated. So expect very few ships in the game. By this milestone, even WoT barely had that many nations and tech tree line in the game after it's first year. The next nation stated to come should be german battleships, around summer or so. Tirpitz is allready in the game as a premium, but is only available for sale at limited times. If this does not help, then you will not find anything useful on this forum.

How to understand stats and ratings in preload screen?
SBS replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
What range was your concealment at? Also did you fire? The kagerou with captain skill and camo has better concealment than Shima. I doubt that the rating in port is that exact, and yes, it should technically be the higher number that is the better. Edit: It does take modefications you equip on the ship, like the concealment mod, in to account IIRC. -
Wow, just had 2 Saipans in a game. The one on our team had 0 games in CV and got 0 kills and didn't even move his CV when the enemy came to kill him. Enemy Saipan had 183 games in cv and did okay. We still one because the rest of the enemy team let our DD run crazy among them, but it really proved what i feard. Having a guy who doesn't even know how to do manual drops. At least Saipan DB has the same accuracy with auto drop as manual drop.

Here is a tip. You want AA? Leave anything that is japanese and go to the other nations. Japan has the worst AA in the game, on everything. The cleveland says hello with it's 90 DPS long range AA. US are the kings of AA, maybe they would suit you better then? Also, a New Mexico and Colorado if fully AA specced, can defend themselves very well against equal tier CV. Sure some planes will still get through, but a decent amount will get shot down. And if you combine with other ships AA, it get's even better.
-
Okay, so I just played a game in my Langley grinding up the US CV line, and I was an enemy Houshou on enemy team, and I thought, sure I can easily take him out. Guess what, fighters strafing ability is still filled with bugs, and when i tried to use it, the fighters just ended up going in circle, they wouldn't shoot. The strafe had started as the lead indicator was yellow. And of course I could not abort it. Here is a link to the replay file. Go to around the 18 min mark of the match to see it happen. Replay I would suggest an ability to abort a strafe when it is initiated. This at least means you can get out of any bug that may happen, at it can really give the advantage to the enemy.

That guy who has a poor forum WR and feel that stats doesn't matter

Because those are completely two different games with completely different balances. Fx 1 BB or CV in that game is worth 10 DD, something that would break balance here. DD were balanced with being expandable and numerous, works well in PVE campaign, and in multiplayer where you can buy units, like battlestations bacific multiplayer, works less so in a WoWs arena style gameplay with 1 life per player. Also, the game engine does not lend well to 3 dimensional combat under water. Also, subs rarely were used in actual battles (except for scouts to bring back intel and try to harass lone ships that got seperated, but rarely went in to the thick of it. They were best as scout or used to kill merchant shipping. The IJN tried to use their subs as a warship killer, was a lot less successfull than U'boat or US subs sinking merchants. Also these pointers: the subs are invisble unless enemies get extremely close (basicly people allready complain about DD cloacking, guess what this will do). They are extremely slow, some only half the speed of bogue under water, so boring trying to get to the combat. They basicly have no survivability if they are detected, basicly insta death, aren't people allready complaining about detonations? Also BB and CA can't defend themselves against subs. Currently all classes can kill each other and defend from each other, but subs are basicly immune to some ship classes. With all these things taking in to consideration, they would break the game balance, require new engine. Basicly you would need to make a different game, and guess what, there are other games out there! Want a good submarine game? Try the silent hunter series and you will see what subs actually do (highly recommend the series btw ). It will not happen nor will it fit, so stop asking.

I know, in RTS like SC2 and so on, it helps, but in this game, it does nothing really. Thats why I say it is unessecary, the game is simply not responsive enough for such click spamming. In SC2 I would do it as well, but here it does nothing but ruin your fine control.

I know, but compared to ships like Omaha and such, it really shows the difference in armor layout and thickness.
-
Never said it was a bad thing, hell, if it is anyway like GuP I will be happy. Just doubt they will get too much into life on a warship, like Gup only briefly touches on maintnance on tanks and so on.

Ofcourse, having same top tier mutsuki torps with excellent arcs (perhaps the best?) doesn't hurt either
