Bug or pug? Losing fighter duels in Independence mirror matches, with max all

What ship upgrades do you mount? -
Ex-WoWP player here, used to fly as part of the TAWV clan. You may remember us as the guys playing nothing but Tier V battles spamming our recruitment ad all over the place. Can't say I was too proud of that lol. Came over to WoWS mid-February, and haven't looked back! WoWP was in a decent place for a little while, then WG just seemed to want to ruin it as much as possible. Good to see some clan names I recognise, DAFT, DFA and FLYD chief among 'em!

Hey guys, So I have started my grind down the US CV line, and am only one decent game away from the Bogue. Looking down the US tree it is obvious that all flight control upgrades give you a choice between all-out strike power with 1 TB squadron + DB squads, or a full air superiority loadout with multiple fighter squads plus a token DB squad or two. However the stock flight control options, while often giving one less squad total, at least allow a US CV to launch both a fighter squad and a TB squad, which I'm guessing you really need in order to actually progress in decent time. I was wondering what flight control options you guys picked with your US CVs? I potentially am going to roll like this: Bogue: Stock, I will have one less squad total but at least I can have one squad of fighters and TBs up at once. Independence: Stock, I don't lose out on a squad compared to the upgrades and I get a decent spread of 1 Fighter, 1 TB and 1 DB. Ranger: Stock or Air Superiority, stock gives the same advantages as it does on the Independence, but at this point I am going to be matched up against high tier IJN CVs with torp squadrons galore - in order to last longer than three minutes I might just have to bite the bullet and go full air superiority. Lexington: The stock option seems far better than either of the upgrades here, 2 Fighters, 1 Torps and 1 Dive is easily the best spread in my opinion. You have decent anti-air capabilities with the 2 fighters while losing no noticeable strike power by still having that key torp bomber squad. Essex and Midway: 1/2/2 strike setup - The first time US carriers can launch multiple TB squadrons is kinda a no brainer for me here. Maybe I'll unlock the AA setup too just to wind people up. Thoughts, suggestions, criticisms? Cheers! Plumb

When it comes to carrier guides I found Aerroon's guides to be quite useful:
