A suggestion regarding CAs (and one BB suggestion)
Benaulim replied to IamTroublemaker's topic in General Discussion
Playing CAs and DDs only I can absolutely understand how frustrating it sometimes is to hunt down destroyers. It doesn't feel much different when going after a DD in a DD. However we certainly don't need better planes on the cruisers. They already are a pain especially when still spotting even after their vessel got sunk. Also I still remember the days when the smarter CVs kept tracking you in your DD with their fighters. I have no doubt that the CVs will be back in numbers as soon as WG manages to properly balance them. CAs hunting down DDs would do a lot better if only they had the balls to sometimes race towards their prey instead of circling the area and waiting for a cheap frag. Nothing is more annoying for a DD than a CA closing in fast. -
An option to deny opponents the damage or the frag they need for their mission(s)? Just no.

Guess you nailed it, although in my opinion there's no logic in the decision to limit one of the smallest maps to Tiers II to V, then add it to Ranked battles where Tiers V to VI are mandatory ...
-
Just a minor issue, yet confusing: Regarding matchmaking it says Added restrictions for the “Solomon Islands” map to be limited by battles of Tiers II to V (used to be II-VI) while a little later they state that For ships of Tiers V and VI, the following maps will be available:(...) Solomon Islands (...).

How do you report insults and threats via private chat with the in-game mechanics ?

Nonsense. Source? -
Class-only missions for a whole week = A bad thing indeed.
Benaulim replied to Andreevson's topic in General Discussion
It's the lack of CVs that makes the numbers of DDs rise. That simple. Not to mention the rewards for capping. -
As far as you know? Would expect more from a supertester ... *winks*. Defeated in a Mahan, having capped twice solo yet done zero damage I still gained 840 base. Makes me believe a cap is at least worth 400. Won a match today in a Fubuki having capped five times solo, once shared and done a total damage of just 6764, received 3672 base xp. Base capture doesn't bring much?

Four different players in three games are a lemming train now?

Simply not true. Omaha with Advanced Firing Skill has a range of 17,8 km (C-hull). There can be no doubt that you have to play her hit and run, though. Which is fun with 5 turrets (6 barrels) pointing forwards respectively backwards. Perfect for intercepting/hunting DDs respectively starting fires on CAs/BBs left and right at maximum range. Which then again is even easier on Ocean since due to your maneuverabilty enemies tend to switch to larger and slower targets after a volley or two. Excels CAs of both tiers in everything but hitpoints (and most likely armor).
-
Funny, my Omaha has more range, speed, rate of fire and accuracy than my Cleveland (both captains skilled in Advanced Firing Training). And guess who is better at intercepting respectively killing destroyers.

Borderglitching is as bad as ever.

Huge cap on ocean - easy to force draw by stealth DD
Benaulim replied to docmorningstar's topic in General Discussion
Nonsense. From the opening post it's pretty obvious this happened at the end of a match with not many survivors, maybe even a one on one. This morning I myself in a lone Hatsuharu did force a draw on an enemy with eight ships remaining, five of them in the zone respectively just having entered it. While at some point they inevidently would have found me none ever got closer than 10 km before time ran out. -
Is any of the crosshair mods scalable meaning does it adjust when you zoom in? Can't remember which one I had before and wether it's in the modpack now.
-
Unlike blue tanks in WoT you are not free to shoot pink ships in WoWS. Actually by doing that you yourself may eventually turn pink.
-
... and yet you rewarded them by aquiring numerous premium ships?
-
it's a myth. Firing your guns makes your concealment kind of obsolete. You will be spotted at larger distances and the maximum range of 9,36 you gain with Advanced Firing Training is not enough. Last but not least you will have left behind the Clemson when you finally aquire that skill. On the Nicholas it's actually fun boosting your gun range to 13,1 km while your concealment is even a little better. The Nicholas is the one to keep among the low tier USN DDs. Everything else has been said. The American DDs are gunships. You play with caution, hunt down Japanese DDs as soon as they are spotted, assist cruisers or battleships (most enemies will focus the huge and slower targets in the heat of the battle), cap or eventually break through to kill lone hostile carriers! Save at least one speed boost for that, evade its dive or torpedo bombers and enjoy launching your torpedo salvos from close distances. Generally if possible try to stealthily relocate after early engagements to confuse the enemy. Even a heavily damaged American DD can be helpful when the battlefield has cleared a little.

Try unchecking "Allow torrents" in the settings aka update installation options.

It's up again.

I don't get it. You are inviting inexperienced players to experience the disadvantages of playing DDs while lacking skill at it? Where exactly is the challenge? And what could you prove with it?
-
I researched yet never upgraded to the top (third) hull to not lose a turret. Thus I do at least have a little chance to surive shootouts with American DDs. By default HE does more damage than AP. I try not to waste her in early engagements. Depending on the map her (upgraded) torpedo range of 15 km can be quite amusing if you target the obvious bottlenecks or hotspots respectively think ahead.

Happened to me for the first time ever yesterday with a DD (Mahan, fully upgraded) after I installed Aslain's ModPack 0.2.4 activating various mods from it. Map: North. Problems as described by others: couldn't fire (LMB), couldn't target with my torpedo launchers or turrets (and neither zoom into any certain direction), couldn't lay smoke although the voice told me I just dd. I also wasn't able to change control settings. Steering and speed controls worked fine. Strangely enough I didn't have any problems while playing a BB (New Mexico, fully upgraded) the match before. Couldn't be bothered to find out which of the mods caused it (since that was what I assumed), deinstalled the entire ModPack and was able to flawlessly play ever since. Edit: Happened once again with a DD. Fully upgraded Fubuki. Map: North. Clean client. Funny enough in addition to not being able to trigger guns, torpedos and special skills I also couldn't steer right, just left.

I am keeping the Farragut almost stock (5 turrets, more range on torpedos) and rather rely on its guns to seriously damage hostile DDs and CAs with AP than to desperately look for opportunities to launch my torps. Sequential fire eases aiming and the RoF tends to drive enemies crazy. HE annoys even BBs although I hardly ever manage to set them on fire. I do damage their turrets, though. Captain is working on his 5th skill. I relocate a lot, hunt down (or spot) those trying to kill our CVs (japanese or premium DDs usually cannot compete with me) and eventually sneak through to find and attack their carriers.

why destroyers have to reload torpedos at the beginning ?
Benaulim replied to ariyaner's topic in General Discussion
I seriously doubt it for various reasons (safety, maintenance of torpedoes and tubes etc.).. Even in submarines with their lack of space the tubes weren't preloaded. Source? -
This. Players tend to sail full ahead most of the time. If there is one that actually changes speed (or course) a lot I tend to switch to an easier target if available.
