IMO, it should not be a question for us. If the developer feels like 2 year old content should be available to people that plays 2 years down the line so be it. If it were: nope. That is akin to complaining I dont have any beta ships, because I never played beta that I can recall, but I still want me a shot at them "beta testers only" ships because I feel entitled to some sort of right because I live.
