Something really needs to be done about the Bismarck.

You have really good stats and are a top player and yet you sprout such nonsense ? -
Comrade Stalin sends reinforcements

We don't even have iconic ships like the Somers-class DDs and the Brooklyn-class CLs and they focus on more Russian post-war ships instead -
It's nice that it might be obtainable by campaign, but please give us also a purchase option, because I really don't want to jump through idiotic hoops like the Nachi mission over the Xmas holidays.

And I had hoped she might show up in the shop this morning. Instead we only got the Albert

south dakota-class Battleship alabama is coming
Panzerblitz replied to Reisen__'s topic in General Discussion
All is well, that ends well. See what a little teamwork did. -
Literally every match at least 5 BBs on each team.
Panzerblitz replied to SovietFury43's topic in General Discussion
I don't mind the amount of BBs that much, I think the main problem are the 20+ km fights at tier 8 and beyond and the fact that BB players refuse to fight and tank. -

Just a word of advice to the people who now go "Free ship ! I wanna be a ST. Where do I apply ?". Don't................unless you are the most dedicated WoWS player, with a ton of spare time on your hands. I was a ST - from April to July 2015 - so I speak from experience. Sure it's cool testing new ships and getting insider info, but 99% of the tasks feel like a job: "Search map X for invisible walls". "Test fire on spot Y of ship Z". "Check animation of the radar antenna on the rear mast" ...and other "enjoyable" tasks. Combined with schedules, crunch times, written reports and so on. "Oh it's spring and sunny outside" - "Screw that - we need you to test turret rotations on new DDs for the next 3 hours". "Oh it's summer and I have a GF" - "Forget it - your only GF is the testing sea. And she's cold and barren". School, university, job, significant other ? Better think again before applying. There are fun parts, but most of the time you are busy with typical game testing and bug hunting tasks. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About the Alabama.....well, well, well.... I was a mod for the German version of Navy Field, that was many years ago. It was also volunteer work. But the game devs often rewarded us with in-store credits - those we could spend on stuff for our own playing accounts. But we never received special ships, because the devs knew that this would breed bad blood among the community. I have no problem if WG gives the STs credits, free xp, special camo, doubloons and stuff like that - they deserve it for their work. And of course we will see the South Dakota class as a player ship some day. But considering that the game is still in a relatively early development cycle, with a still rather limited choice in the BB trees, it might not have been the best decision to give a unique ship to a very exclusive circle of players at this moment. It breeds further envy among an already divided playerbase. -
I don't mind that we have many BBs, but WG really needs to encourage BB players to close the range and fight. The sniping meta is just horrible. I noticed it today when I bought the Missouri. I haven't played an Iowa since Alpha or maybe Beta, so I'm a bit rusty in that class, but the radar consumable is almost a liability under the current meta. You want to get into radar range to help your team, then you take your eyes off the mini-map for a few seconds and in the meantime half your team has started retreating and running away, instead of supporting a push.

Have you checked your reserve roster ? I had most of the Japanese line in my port, except for the Shima and didn't lose anything. I also got 21 million credits back and the new ships that replaced the tier of the existing ones. Nothing disappeared for me and I'm quite happy with the way WG handled this.

Please give this ship more secondary range. It has such a great secondary battery, but the lack of range (4km in preliminary notes) ruins it. A powerful cruiser with a good secondary battery would be something really unique and new.

Yes, I just noticed in recent games, that I can set high tier stuff on fire again. That Kurfürst must have had every fire prevention skill and module and that explains a lot. So I don't need to worry about the low HE damage of the 100mm guns anymore. Also thanks for the collective input, the more you know
-
The weird thing is that my initial games (and my expectations) were that the ship is a fire-starter. And my first couple of games confirmed that. Then suddenly my HE stopped setting high tier ships on fire and I started wondering.....same for DD duels. And last game I murdered an Edinburgh in close quarters by using AP...so I know that the ship is fine in a knife-fight. Anyway - back to my initial issue. Do 0 damage hits against a super-structure still check for fire chances ? Cause maybe that Kurfürst just had the Fire Prevention skill on his commander and I threw my panties in a fit over nothing.

I had to switch to AP once I noticed that this ship loses straight up gunnery duels against Bensons when using HE. And this opens another can of worms, since 100mm AP bounces off against the slightest angles. This ship is very odd with it's 100mm guns. I need more games in it for now....

I'm a bit miffed about the 4km range on it's secondaries. Finally a cruiser with a good secondary suite and then the range is so anemic that they are useless.

Getting USS Missouri tier IX premium BB
Panzerblitz replied to x16___zoom's topic in General Discussion
800k is a lot of free xp (and money) for an Iowa. I would consider it if the ship had a unique gimmick like radar or long range secondaries, but for a vanilla Iowa with a special skin it's way overpriced. -
It's no bug, you always get charged something even if you don't get a scratch. Think: ammo, oil and harbor harlots. Wargaming said so in past posts.

I rather hope this pointless thread dies quickly....

Today on the test server.... https://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?list=PLGtuBaWXHItQOJqRvycc2QVttna-QOQCu -
The Khabarovsk is the strongest when it's played as fleet support and not as lone warrior. And this is the point where all those unsupported BBs get problems. But people just read "Khaba STRONK" and then beeline towards the ship without understanding tactics. And now they read about the nerf and panic. In the right hands the Khabarovsk and Udaloi will continue to be the top DDs. Nothing comes even close until we see a new DD line.

Ok so I lost this one yesterday....but asking again: Nerf ?
-
Me on the Test Server yesterday... Nerf ?

What nerf ? This is me on the Test Server...

Yesterday I had a cruiser player charge directly at a line of BBs. Ofc he was sunk quickly, after which he went on how "BBs are OP".

I spent last night on the Test Server....and to quote Bob Dylon: The Times They Are A Changin'

This is the perfect example for the completely messed up Meta that the game is suffering from. BBs have the armor and HP to lead, but without a screen they either get torped or burned down in no time. DDs should be BB screens, but have double duty as cappers and if you play something like the Khaba or Udaloi you usually get bigger scores by going hunting. And if you play mighty Nippon you want to stealth torp. Which leaves us with US DDs and their horrible high-angle guns. And lastly we have cruisers: in a cruiser you want to be nowhere near a leading BB, cause you will be spotted and sunk. Back to step 1 and the problem that unsupported BBs cannot lead the attack on their own, while other classes usually get better scores and a longer lifetime by NOT escorting BBs. The whole element of mutual, inter-class support is simply not working as it should. My idea: Escorting XP. If a DD or Cruiser stays within a certain range of a BB you get extra points for damaging ships which are shooting the BB, as well as more xp for anything damaged by the BB while you are within the escort range. Therefore you want your BB to live as long as possible, but you also want them to get into low-dispersion range to do meaningful damage. At the same time the BB player benefits from active support and protection.
