As Alpha tester I can safely say that the Flint's combination of smoke, dps and 9.2 km torps is....to put it mildly...challenging. It will be very frustrating for casuals to deal with this. But the elephant in the room is the whole smoke meta. Smoke should always have been a defensive consumable, but instead it's an offensive weapon comparable to a Klingon cloaking device. I guess the proper counter would be to make radar and sonar an option on more ships.

Silly idea just popped in my mind. What if the game would track the average distance of a BB captain from the other team's BBs and then hand out a reward bonus if you spend X amount of time in a certain range bracket. You would have to find a proper formula for that, by using server stats, but this would't not be hard to calculate. Instead of an xp reward you could also give other bonus incentives, like extra points for your commander or a premium after a set number of missions.

Well, something has to be done to make the whole sniping metagame less attractive. If you sit at 22km taking potshots at cruisers and missing 95% of the time then you don't help your team and your own score will also be terrible. It's just that people don't understand how the game works. When you get a map with 3 cap points you can be assured that players will try to cap all 3 instead of focusing on 1-2. In my opinion capping points always comes secondary, because you get so many points from sinking other ships. Staying together, moving as one force and then steam-rolling the opposition with focus-fire is the way to victory. As a BB captain your life is hard: There are way too many players who want to hide behind you and let you take all the damage, while they get their shots in and when it's their turn to tank they usually fall back. When you attack, the players behind you don't follow. When there is an invisible DD, your team won't try to screen you. And when you retreat, you usually infect the rest of the team and it becomes a rout. ..... Mid-range BB brawling is one of the most exciting parts of the game and this aspect needs to be encouraged somehow.

It's time to lower chance to catch on fire by 60%
Panzerblitz replied to digifi's topic in General Discussion
I also like my Tirpitz and since it's such a nice brawler I want to charge in all the time and go "Aaaargh...who wants to wrestle...", but then all those pesky little ships with their HE peashooters set me on fire and I'm like "Aaarghghlhlhlh...". So, maybe play smarter and get shot less ? -
2nd place after the US. Mostly thanks to their really good fire control radar. The dual purpose guns they used were so-so - but unlike other nations (I look at you Adolf) they actually had proper dp guns. And the pom-poms, especially the late-ware versions were not far behind the Bofors, which was the gold standard for short range AA. All in all I would say that the Brits had good guns, not quite on par with the 5" Mk38 and the Bofors and with worse proximity fuses when compared to the US, but with really good fire control and enough stopping power.

From what I read they have always aimed at Gamescom for the release and they seem to be on track. Gamescom is on the weekend of August 19th. Considering that today's update added the ships to the game, it will probably release around that time, leaving almost 3 weeks for the Supertesters to check for bugs and to add last minute fixes. I just hope that we see the Scharnhorst earlier, I need something fresh to play.

Look what I just found [3rd unit of the Admiral Hipper Class Heavy Cruisers]
Panzerblitz replied to Comrad_StaIin's topic in Cruisers
Considering that the Scharnhorst was added for testing with 0.5.8 already, they should have had enough time to adjust it by now. The thing is a nightmare to balance anyway. A fast firing, fast sailing cruiser killer with 11" guns. You can outgun what you can't outrun and you can outrun what you can't outgun. It won't really matter what they do to that ship, adding it has already opened up a can of worms. If you nerf it too hard average players will have a hard time playing it and might not buy premiums in the future. At the same time the more experienced players will use the aforementioned strengths of this ship to wreak havoc, because compared to the Nagato and Colorado you have a lot more tactical flexibility due to high speed and fire rate. ...... About the Eugen - I have no experience in the German cruiser tree past T5, but my mates tell me that the Hipper is kinda underwhelming and it's somewhat sad that an iconic ship like the Prinz Eugen (extra points for the Austrian name, since I'm from there) will only be a very mediocre performer at T8, especially when compared to the all-in-one mecha-anime boat aka Atago. I might still buy it for collector's reasons. -
Manual secondaries skill worth it for Yamato?
Panzerblitz replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
Best ship for a secondary build will be the Bismarck. Lots of guns and 7km range at T8. That's the highest base range of all ships and 2km more than the Tirpitz. If the shell arc is good then this ship will me monstrous against anything in a 10km radius. -
V Krasny Krym, what do we know about her....
Panzerblitz replied to tw53's topic in General Discussion
I bought the cheapest package mostly for collector reasons. Considering what ships she is going to face at tier V, she looks pretty hopeless. -
should rank progression be tied to personal success or stay like it is?
Panzerblitz replied to MrWastee's topic in General Discussion
It should be entirely bound to personal rating. Currenty it's almost unplayable because you often get teams which drag you down. If it was entirely about personal merit it would be the best game mode ever, but in the current state you are completely at the mercy of your team's quality. That random element is what ruins this game mode and it also encourages players to always look at others as reason for their failure instead of trying to improve. There are way too many players who try to cheese the game mode by only caring about getting cap points. Others are playing it as if it was a normal battle and only care about their damage and others yet are trying not to sink so they can save repair costs and spend the whole round running away. The mode is bad and unless you have ludicrous amounts of personal time as well as lucky streaks when it comes to team composition you won't see rank 1 in a season. -
He probably just saw one and made a pointless post. This isn't funny.

There's no Scharnhorst in the shop.

Only thing I care about is: WHEN ?

Ranked feeling more like work than play?
Panzerblitz replied to Azrael_Ashemdion's topic in General Discussion
The big problem I see in ranked is that you are completely at the mercy of the RNG gods. In ranked you gotta bring your A-game. Every single time. But very often your A-game won't be enough to turn the tide of battle. If you had a really good game you might not lose a star, but often you end up as #2 or #3 and despite your best efforts you just went down the ladder again. I really would like to have a Flint, but this game mode is just too frustrating at times. -
WG don't nerf premiums once they are sold. If a prem is OP they just don't sell it anymore. See: Type 59, Emperor Nikolai, Gremyashchy....

German BBs+ tier 6 premium French BB Dunkerque stats in 0.5.9
Panzerblitz replied to Darth_Glorious's topic in Battleships
Dunkerque looks terribly high in the water in the midship section. With her BC armor you should never, ever show your broadside, but as long as you angle properly she should be good. -

Panzerblitz replied to Darth_Glorious's topic in Battleships
So this leaves us with only the high rof. Oh well, we will see. For me it's a must buy, since she will be the first ship to offer really different T7 BB gameplay. But I really expected better accuracy out of those 11" guns. Something halfway between cruiser guns and real BB guns. This also opens a whole other can of worms because of the Deutschland class. I suppose that sooner or later we will see one of these ships, either in a new tree or as premium, and the Deutschland's 11" guns were actually inferior to the Scharn/Gneis. So imagine a 28 kts Deutschland with heavy cruiser armor and BB dispersion on her 6x11". The horror..... -
German BBs+ tier 6 premium French BB Dunkerque stats in 0.5.9
Panzerblitz replied to Darth_Glorious's topic in Battleships
Dunkerque will be interesting, since you can stay perfectly angled and bring your full firepower to bear. Scharnhorst will stand and fall depending on the accuracy of her 11" guns, could also become a fantastic ship for ranked. Gneisenau will probably have a hard time at T7, because you just can't compete with other nation's total shell weight when you only have 6x15". Do we have any dispersion info about the 11" ? -
I played her during Alpha and the ship is a nightmare to balance. Don't forget, it's a Kuma hull. In a high tier battle, let's say T7 and above, even a gun destroyer like a Sims or a Kiev will murder you as soon as you are spotted. Giving the hull more hitpoints to balance it, won't really help. And if you give the Kitakami torps with a range long enough to stay out of sight, then you have a massively overpowered torp cruiser.

Großer Kurfürst - Grand Elector - is a really bad name for the T10. Could we have a petition for something better ? Some suggestions: Barbarossa Lohengrin Tannhäuser Nibelungen Considering how obsessed certain elements of the Nazi party were with German mythology and the heroic epos such a name would be quite fitting.
-
Just sell us that thing already, so that we can get it over with.
-
I hope it is. I would be kinda silly if the Gearing was suddenly a better torpedo boat than the Shima.
