    So instead of tirpitz you want to come against north carolina, iowa, taiho etc....I would rather have tier 8 filled and avoid those stupid 3 tiers higher games in my tier 6.
  2. Hi I am thinking on writing a guide which would primary help new battleship players to hit better with a salvo. Lets assume that two ships, one battleship (yours) and an enemy ship sails alongside. The time for the shells to hit the water where you aim is 5 seconds. How far ahead should you aim? Basically it must be enemy ship minus your own ship speed. + the time of shells to hit. I am pretty sure that if the enemy sails 18,7 and I sail the same. Aiming 5 seconds ahead assuming that is the shell drop time would give an succesful hit. Furthermore if his speed is bigger than yours you need to add an amount to the 5 seconds. Since this is the normal situation for an battleship let us assume this. So I need for you my fellow players to give me some data. If you go with topspeed alongside the enemy ship on the other side AND get an salvo that hits around the center, which you aim for. Please give me these data. Your speed(normal top speed of the ship) and the speed of the enemy ship. Since 99% of players after very short time sails with top speed just write the name of the ship or the top speed without boosts. For instance. If I shoot from bbs New york and hits an CC Cleaveland with 5 seconds shell fly time the data would look like this. Cleaveland ( 32,7 knots) - New york (18,7knots) + 5 seconds shell time. Then comes the tricky part, You need to tell how far ahead did you aim? If you aimed at 12 seconds ahead, then it is a factor of 12/5 = 2,4 X It it was at 10 seconds ahead then it is a factor of 10/5 = 2 x Was it only 8 seconds then it is 8/5 = 1,6 x Without any tests but personal experience, i would say that the one which is close to hitting the cleaveland is the 2,4 x factor. You see where I am going with this. All you need to know is the speed difference and you can use it on all ships. Why do you need this. Because if we have enough of observations we can easy learn how to aim. It could be an spreadsheet with the numbers for ships. Hope people would help me with some data.
  3. now we are getting this going. hauptbahnhof : Correct if the aim x is on , and I aim directly at a ship that is laying still it hits direct center no matter how long shell flying time. This must mean that the game calculates your actual speed at the moment of firing the guns to the target. Nice observation. This means that your own speed is not important. So the idea of 20 knots as the default speed set as your speed is wrong. Well at least when the aiming x is on. Have not tried without much. It is calculated at firing time and removed from the aiming calculations so to speak. Since your own speed does not matter then it is an unnecessary calculation. It makes it more easy. Only factoring the enemy ship speed is more easy. Basically what we all do is try to remember the speed of the enemy ship and look on smoke stacks, then calculate 1 or 2 or more to multiple the notches on the default zoom view with. Will try to look a bit more into this to make it more easy. The idea to hit ships sailing other ways that straight sideways is nice. Might want to talk to you more about this later on. Would be nice to learn a bit more how to aim when they sail in an angle towards you or how about a turn where does that make the ship end regarding to aim.
  4. Thanks for your input. Really helpful. Keep up the good work. Why train to aim when you can calculate aim superfast that will hit 90-100% of the time? Will gather the data myself....better than scrubs doing it anyway. Learning to aim lol, My aim is okay, does hit 22% of the times in my new mexico. But if i can increase it, why not? Well hoped for some understanding but it seems misplaced. Since this is derrailed already, how do pros like you aim when a ship turns or do you wait till it has turned completely? Since it seems no help, well will make it myself. Will improve my aim a lot. The long sideways sailing shots could be better. Needs to find out how fast does a ship accelerate and what the best factor for hitting a turned ship that speeds up is.

    Why is there totaly NO team work

    Biggest issue at the moment is that certain team elements in the game do not work. For example it gives very little xp to shoot down planes. Why should a Cruiser player waste his time game after game with low xp, low credits. His contribution to a win is just as big with helping the battleships or destroyers as to defending the carriers. It simply does not give enough to use your time to give AA. Also the incentive to get that win is really at the moment not that big. +50% to a win is not much. It is not uncommon to see players on the defeated team have more xp than 2/3s or more of your winning team. Increase the rewards for wins would make teamwork more used. This element just encourages people to farm damage and ignore the team element. Why risk your game for a win if you can stay back get massive damage dealt out and stil perhaps get a win. Players in here have shown comparisons to to other players with a lot bigger win rate % and still they have a bigger overall xp, It feels REALLY hard to carry in this game compared to WOT. It is much harder to change an outcome of a battle when you are behind. This is due to certain things in the game. The capping system means that it is impossible to defend more than one cap point...so you are almost always no matter the skill behind 1 to 2/3 capzones even if they are not that great players. Besides when sailing an bbs , you simply can not go in and cap..it often is very dangerous for you to do. So how should you turn the game around`? Why not just farm as much damage in the time left. It is in many gamemodes certain loss is comming. Pussy wins are there a lot of in this game and draws. It simply is a too big % of games to really start to care much about win %. Focus on dealing as much damage as possible and you will level up faster. Deal big damage and your win % will be decent but 10% more vs 50% more damage per game is not worth it.

    About the balance in WoWs

    Sure the WR will show skill in the long run. But at the moment we have a very small amount of battles compared to a game like wot where you can play more games faster. Furthermore at the moment the matchups with 2 less players on one side, different amounts of cv plus others is making the skill in WR harder to spot. Simply because the more different settings the longer it takes to get an equal amount of all and in a number where it is most accurate. Regarding OP post. I actually like the decision to how to design the game. It shows that the normal path down is cruiser line and specialised is to the sides. Tried the cruiser line down to "Cleaveland" and must say I do not perform well in it. Call it OP or not. It does not suit me. And as I have learned from my bb in tier 6 it seems that cruisers do have a skill ceiling. I like to practice the art of learning to hit with a salvo from far away. It gets better and better. I feel happy to see my skill rise in that class. It gives me satisfacton which I did not get in the other classes. I have myself avoided CV class. I tried them before open beta and it was just not so fun for me. Have tried the destroyers and they seem to feel a bit UP at the moment. But I realised that my strength or call it skill in that class is not that great. So I am mostly playing BBs and american ones. The better AA at high levels seems to be nice. Is at new mexico and it totally rocks. Can´t argue with the line that says CVs in fair condition takes more skill that bbs. Perhaps it is true but is happy about the torp to fighter transition in loadouts i next patch. It is really hard to avoid 2 squads of torp planes and there should also be a skill in avoiding torpedoes not just at the mercy of the cv player. Liking the game very much so far. WG is actually listening to people for once it seems. The game is already several years into a WOT developent cycle comparison. Thumps up.

    The Equipment Guide

    Nice guide. There are ships that can be outfitted differently. For instance my Warspite has a different selection of equipment. In slot 2 I would choose "Secondary Battery Modification 2" , Since I want to use the good secondary guns on the warspite. With captain skill advanced firing training and a +5% flag it is possible to increase the range of guns to 7.25 km. Have not fully tested the exact range but it is close to that. It also increase the firing range of AA with 20%, Increased main battery accuracy which if I have understood it correct just increases accuracy with something like 7%.is nice. But it is only a few shells of many that would hit better. Also with the new improved better accuracy within 3km...it is useless in that range or below. Warspite is a brawler....and your goal is to lower the distance to the enemy.I would pick secondary battery modification 2 over increased accuracy,

    Stats of a Good Player?

    The moment you play cv, I can really not compare any stats. They are simple stat padders that are easy to make any stats look better than they are. Furthermore the amount of battles is so low that impossible to say anything. Besides the MM is making any comparison impossible.
  9. Hi I am in a small wot clan, and we have tried wows for some time during summer. It is great fun but it seems that now players are dropping out. There are some issues at the moment with the game. 1. The low number of players. 33.000 is simply not a high number during evenings. This makes Matchmakers job very hard. This more or less leads to number 2. 2. Getting into matches with a difference of one or two carriers is simply not plain fun. Also some matches even have 2 less players on one team. Why can the matchmaker not make fair fights... 3. Carriers seems to be a bit too crazy at the moment. I have no problems in one or two groups of torp bombers but 3 is really taking the price. They need to be lowered or tweaked some way. It is costing players for sure at the moment. It is worse than the Arty thing in wot. At least you can hide in that game. Here the weak AA seems to not do much. Ships that are supposed to be bb shield against planes have a hard time doing so. Besides it gives absolutely no exp to shot planes down or protect a carrier or bb. It just kills your stats... The game is really great but if that number of players not rise soon..it is GG. Matchmaker is one of the main issues. Ship roles not being encouraged is really also a bad thing.

    Burn damage on warships

    Hi Calculated fire damage from one fire on a warship. Also is flooding damage shown Fire damage duration is 60 seconds while flooding lasts 90 seconds. Max fires on one battleship at same time is 4. Only one flooding possible. Here you can see what the effects of the ship upgrade "Damage control system 2" and the commander skill called "Basics of survivability" does. Besides the reduction in firedamage they also reduce the damage from flooding. Flooding can be very dangerous since it last 90 seconds and not 60 seconds like fire does before stopping. Basics of survivability with the cost of one point is essential on a battleship. Can not see any reason not to use it. The ship upgrade " Damage control system 2" is normaly only possible from tier 6 and you will have to choose between faster rudder time, faster top speed and the upgrade. Faster rudder time can be used to avoid torps like on warspite..but on a brawler maybe the mentioned DCS 2 upgrade is better. Is myself in doubt about it. Have not posted the stats for cruisers, destroyers and carriers but the difference is carriers burn with 0,4% hp/sec and the rest 0,3% hp/sec. Also the chance of fire for each shell is being lowered the higher tier you get starting from 100% (stats for each shell) to 50% lower at tier 10. Can also post stats for other ship classes but not that different than battleships. Just compared hp to your ship and you can roughly get the idea how much damage it takes from a full duration fire. Besides the "Repair party 1" ability on battleships works best on fire, flooding and light damage. eg. Warspite heals 322 hp for a 28 sec duration for a total of 9016 hp. eg. New york heals 245 hp for a 28 sec duration for a total of 6860 hp. Have not the full stats on repair but I believe from test in traning room that it is possible to repair 9016 of fire/flood/light damage on warspite per use of ability. Just remember that medium and heavy damage is not possible to repair to full extent so using ability when only suffered heavy and medium damage is waste of ability.

    True but while we wait for the certain cleaveland nerf, there are a ton of newb cleavelands out there. Besides...it only take a few hits to cripple it with him sailing broadside towards me.

    Often when meeting a ca one on one in a bb, you go towards him. Angle the ship between shots. Let him set one or two fire on you. When two fires or more, repair and stop them. Let him again set you on fire...one or two fires...then use repair ability that effectively nullifies one fires total damage. Well that is on warspite....meanwhile load AP and blast him away. when into 7 km range..the secondaries have lunch..they eat people like crazy on that ship. That is the best way to deal with one like cleaveland. It is not easy but can be done.

    XVM... for WoWs?

    The problem in wows with xvm is that the cv players can easy teamwork and target the best player on the other team. Of course it just brings more focus on teamplay but in most cases imagine starting a game and then 3-4-5 torp squads arrive to take out the best player or best BBS player. While they can do this now , but they do not have the knowledge of who to target.... Can fast make games really bad for good players.

  16. Hi I think that if we could find and post the different armor layouts of the battleships we could improve our play in the game. How are they armored would both give us an idea where the aimpoints are to aim for and how to play that specific ship.   17. Hi Must say my Winrate sucks. It seems really hard to carry a game. I think that my battleships somehow do better than the rest with higher amount of xp per battle than the others. But is there a simple way in the start that can generate a higher winrate by simply giving good commands to people? I have thought on something like " I need a battleship, 2 cruisers and 2 destroyers to follow me in a battlegroup, going to cap point C"!! Something that fast could make people form a group of units that can pose a threat and be a powerful unit vs most enemies sent your way. Also how about something like " Cruisers defend the battleships from destroyers, destroyers cap flag zones fast and secretly during the game and sink battleships," Is there ways of increasing your win rate by simply giving text commands from the start? Your view on this!!!

    Feeling ripped off £35 premium & warspite

    Having the warshite myself and getting beaten a lot in it. I must say I really do not like it at all. The playstyle is a brawler with good secondary armament and a range of 10 km would be nice for its AP. I absolutely owns in South Carolina and I suspects that the forced range of 10-11 km is the optimal range for a BBs. Atleast that one and perhaps also warshite. The biggest issue is the slow turning turrets that can make close fights hard to do. Maybe wait 1-3 weeks so more tier 6 are in a battle. If too many in lowtiers the guns tend to overpen.

    Hi Have the warspite and it simply does not work at all for me. It is hard to hit anything at long ranges and if getting into 11-12 km then you get firebombed so easy. What equipment should I use. How should I play. Is on a losing streak and it keeps on getting worse. To make matters worse there is not comming a wipe anymore...great my account is quickly becomming trash.

    its really garbage. If you like warspite or not. IT got nerfed armorwise both vs torpedoes and vs deck hits from HE. Its own AP shells overpen WAY too much. Maybe it changes in a month but for now its really crap.

    its unplayable at the moment. Want a lot more fusos, kongos etc.... But i am total sure, the armor has been nerfed A LOT. All shots to deck does at least 1000 damage with HE...you are getting really torn apart from CCs . its suicide to go one on one with them. My AP overpen ALL the targets with no exception. So I am left with HE that seldom does more than 2k of damage...silly. The ship is broken and WG has nerfed it too much. That is why they did not remove it. But removed kitakama and others.

    It seems that any shot from CC is doing 1k damage....and often setting on fire. The armor is clearly gone.. Have not seen any 11k hits with AP for a long time. It seems to overpen ANYTHING.
