    New Orleans and Baltimore Cruisers

Average damage for DP secondaries goes from 16 (NO) to 24 (Balti), so not really lol. Still completely crap like every DP gun.

    New Orleans and Baltimore Cruisers

It does have more armor and weight (over 1,5 times as much displacement) than the New Orleans while having only slightly more engine power so it really is less manoeuvrable. Just wanted to elaborate the classification of US cruisers.

    New Orleans and Baltimore Cruisers

In USN designations the cruiser type was defined only by the size of the guns it carried. The Baltimore was a heavy cruiser because it mounted 203mm guns, not because the ship was heavy or heavily armored or something.
  4. If you want wins, you gotta play battleships or carriers. Learned that while grinding the USN CA line (42% on Baltimore) compared to the BB line (61% on Iowa). Cruisers are fun, but they don't carry teams.
  5. This has got to be one of the worst losses in history lol.

American BBs AA a bit overpowered?

Are we playing the same game? The Des Moines can hardly kill 1/3rd of what is attacking and that's when it sails right into the oncoming squadrons. Even the Baltimore wasn't much better. That still leaves enough torpedoes to potentially kill an entire battleship every single run.

    "India Delta" signal flag typo?

Well the ability stays active for about 17 seconds for whatever reasons, I assumed that any damage sustained (caught fire or modules destroyed) during this period would also get repaired and not just the initial damage you activated it for. In that case it would make sense that the duration could be extended, although it would be quite rare to actually be able to take advantage of this.

Right, that's odd. Which aircraft carrier were you fighting? Perhaps the planes from certain carriers (Hirya in my case) aren't counted properly. It's the only thing I can think of that could be wrong other than that it's a completely random bug.

    Everybody loses! (Draws)

Actually, having capture points prevents one ship from endlessly running because the other one could simply cap. The timer is some odd leftover from World of Tanks where the average game was only 6 minutes, so a 15 minute timer was quite a large margin. Only rare games would end in draws (2%). Battles in WoWS probably last more like 10-12 minutes on average so it is weird that they only added 5 minutes to the timer, instead of doubling it. 20 minutes is often too short considering the extended ranges in WoWS. The amount of draws has more than tripled (7,2%) compared to WoT.

Djerin did this happen in 3.1.1? I think the friday patch fixed the award, I've started to receive it since then. Got 3 so far on the Iowa.

American BBs AA a bit overpowered?

I assume that is because of how the mechanics work, planes have health just like ships and your AA will drain that health when they come within your AA auras. This means that your AA softened up their HP pool and the Yamato got to finish what little HP was left. That's why he got more kills, even though you probably did more damage. Gotta agree on this one. This argument will just be CV players versus BB players, and both are right in their own terms. CVs will complain AA is too strong, while BBs complain that a good torpedo drop can destroy or severely cripple their ship in one strike. The 'cruiser escort' argument can hardly be taken seriously, since this is a game and not a simulator and the balance between the amount of BB and escort ships per team is completely off. As long as there won't be enough CAs in a team to escort all the BBs, BBs should not be left to their fate in regards of AA armament.

USN Battleships - First Impressions and Reviews

So has anyone played both the Iowa and the Montana yet? I just unlocked the Montana, but I'm not sure if I should buy it. The Iowa just seems like a lot more fun, enjoying lower matchmaking while combat performance isn't that much worse than the Montana. It only has one extra turret and a bit more armor (which is kinda neglectable since BB penetrate anyway and CA fire HE) at the cost of worse AA, worse mobility and top tier matchmaking.

American BBs AA a bit overpowered?

No I don't, I think it adds a good amount of variety to the game to have general pros en cons of ship classes with exceptions for some specific ships, like the Iowa (AA) and Kitakami (Cruiser with torpedo wall). Just like World of Tanks had a great variety of different tanks for each class (AMX 50B and E-100 both being heavies for example). It makes the game more fun having to engage some ships in different ways instead of the regular rock-paper-scissors approach.

American BBs AA a bit overpowered?

I have every AA upgrade except the +20% effectiveness, I always use focus fire on squadrons. Anyways we can have this argument for days, I personally think it's fine for a battleship that doesn't have the best mobility and a bad antitorpedo belt and which historically had an insane amount of AA to perform as well as it currently does (which is worse than you make it out to be). Especially after I've invested several modules and captain skills into improving it. Iowa usually kills 'only' about half the planes that attack it, and 2/3 TB squadrons usually make it far enough to drop their torpedoes and only get further destroyed on their way back home. But as neither of us have both ships in port we can't really compare since we clearly experience clashes between the two completely different. Plus apparently our opinion on fundamental gameplay elements seems to differ, since I agree with the game currently sporting hard counters you should just avoid (avoid Iowa with planes, like Iowa should avoid destroyers) while you apparently want perfect asymmetrical balance between ships/classes. The fact that it's so much more effective than Des Moines IMO has more to do with the fact that they gave the DM a ridiculously low amount of DPM for the mid-long range guns.

    Something's a miss, . . . . or not?

Being a level 3 or higher means you get access to daily missions. Every day new missions will be given, and you get the one day to complete them. It's stuff like get 10 torpedo hits, or shoot down 10 planes, and receive 500 free xp or 50.000 credits for doing so. They get replaced automatically, there's no need to be logged in at 00:00 or whatever.

American BBs AA a bit overpowered?

I have an Iowa myself and when attacked by 3 squadrons of TB it usually only manages to kill one squadron before the other two can drop their torpedoes. It absolutely slaughters dive bombers but then again IMO that would be the CV captain's fault for trying to fly above something that has an AA armament worthy of an entire field division.

American BBs AA a bit overpowered?

"I attacked a hard counter to my planes and I lost that fight so that means it's OP" You don't see me complaining about getting roflstomped by a wall of torpedoes launched by a destroyer after I made a mistake of sailing my battleship too close to one. Don't attack North Carolina / Iowa / Montana with airplanes and you're good. Just like a battleship shouldn't sail straight at a destroyer. Their immense AA is historical.

    Dispersion on mainturret question

Now that we're on the subject of dispersion - is it true that your guns 'zero in' and get increased accuracy after firing a certain amount of times at the same enemy?

    Whats happens after closed beta?

Oh god it's going to be World of M4A2E4 all over again.

    Ramming feels wrong...

I suppose complaining about it right now is rather pointless since we're still in beta and supposedly the ramming mechanic hasn't really been worked on yet, but yes right now it's completely fubar. I anchored my 60.000hp Iowa next to an island because sailing forward meant sailing straight into a bunch of enemy ships in the cap. Enemy Iowa was moving towards me while taking a lot of fire, so he decided to come and ram me before going down. I started moving backwards - he was going pretty slow because of his maneuvering. Eventually our bows touched ever so slightly... He must've been going 20 knots while I was going backwards at 10-15. Armored bows of battleships touching each other at such low speeds should've resulted in a gentle kiss, a dent perhaps or bouncing off and scraping along side each other. Instead... my entire ship suddenly explodes, -60.000hp for me and we both sink.

    'Clear sky' achievement not awarded

It wasn't a one-time bug, happened again. This time I took a screen of the types of planes I killed as well. Thought maybe last time it was due to scout planes not being counted or something but this time I shot down over 30 combat aircraft for sure.

    'Clear sky' achievement not awarded

Right, well in that case I'm afraid I don't have a replay available. All I can tell is that I vaguely remember shooting down a few scout planes along with a load of carrier planes.

If the game now saves replays automatically now I suppose I do, but I can't find anything in my install folder.

USN Battleships - First Impressions and Reviews

The guns seem more accurate at long ranges, I score at lot more hits on max distance. Being a tier 9 it can mount the main gun accuracy improvement module. The armor is much better, and especially noticeable when you're at a 90 degree angle. Sail straight towards enemies and they'll barely do damage (at the cost of 1/3 of your firepower though). 1945 hull has a 92! AA rating. It completely kills every divebomber squadron that attacks you and it decimates torpedo planes. The guns are 406mm /50 instead of the NC's 406mm /45. I think the extra barrel length gives better accuracy and better velocity leading to higher penetration values. I have a feeling I get more citadel hits on battleships than I used to get in the North Carolina. It's fast, 31 knots. Turning rate is worse than earlier USN ships, but still much better than IJN's. It has 79.000hp compared to NC's upgraded 66.000, so that adds even more survivability. And of course the Iowa class has quite a legacy, so for me it's cool to play with it. Having played World in Conflict I was familiar with the 1980's USS Missouri.

    North Carolina maximum firing range

strangers123, on 18 May 2015 - 09:37 PM, said: Could someone who has a NC please fit the increased range equipment (+16% firing range) and see if the shells now travel to 24 km (stock+16%) OR 26KM (top +16%) As a test I installed the range module for one battle to see if that would solve the problem. I tried to shoot at an enemy battleship that was, I think, about 24 kilometers away. Shells still landed a few kilometers short. Someone would have to do more/better tests to get some conclusive answers though. I didn't record anything so I can't be too sure anymore of the ranges I just stated. What I am sure of however is that the range module does not fix the problem.
