Changelog: 

  • Fixed the bug that resulted in huge damage spikes from AA explosions at tier VIII.;
  • Adjusted the damage progression of AA explosions on all tiers;
  • Resolved some issues with continuous DPS calculation. As a result, continuous DPS was adjusted within 5% on all ships;
  • Made balance changes to several ships in live testing (  V Viribus Unitis,   V Exeter,   V Yahagi,   IX Neustrashimy).

0.8.0.2. : Played a few VI and VIII CVs now. (US)

 

I am not sure what amout of toning AA continuous damage you did, but there doesn't seem to be any change.

 

Planes can not dissengage from a single non DD ship even though they are green or slightly damaged.

 

Planes still can only carry one (max 2) strikes against -1/+1 tier non DD. Is this feature? It feels bad having everything in the sky die and fall to drop to red hit points as soon as it flyes 3-4km to any one ship. (no defensive AA, no flak cloud)

 

It seems to be the announcment about the AA and planes adjustment was only a ruse but in reality it stays the same (?). 

 

Same as before - it is playable and rather strong to play CV against 2 tier lower 1-2 ships but equal tier and god forbit hiághter tier target? Forget it.

 

+ My feel of the flag bursts stays the same - I feel it could a tad bit more. Planes fly right through it and get barely scratched. By being within 3 km of any ship? Planes drop every second from machine gun fire. I do not think you can 'adapt' to the fast you can stay within 3-4 radius for 4 seconds no more.

If you are attacking a "fleet" of ships it's quite normal for your planes to only be able to have 1 run. That's the whole point - when you are attacking, the other planes are more or less flying in a "straight" line and they take quite a beating. CVs will have to plan their attacks now and don't just spam planes left and right or go in the middle of the enemy fleet and take down the most favorable positioned battleship. That's the reason they got nerfed in the first place - people were abusing the disengage feature and they were spamming planes all over the map keeping everybody spotted and ruining the game for everyone.  Also considering the fact that most people will run AA builds now, this comes as no surprise. Adapt to the new game style, forget what you thought you knew about CVs.

This was not a CV buff, but normalization of the AA bursts for high tiers that had too high jump from VII to VIII (and, to some extent, to IX).

The adjustment was done, but then again it was not THAT visible (esp. with regards to the continuous damage) and from personal experience Tier VIII carrier is going to suffer a lot in Tier IX+ battles if attacking into overlapping firleds of fire or against AA heavy ships.

So what’s happening next? At the moment there is little point to continue playing CVs - I tried T6+8 today and the AA is almost identical to before this morning’s fix. And it is just too much. 

 

I think because you took some time everyone was expecting something reasonable that improves the broken balance after the disastrous first “Hotnerf”.

 

So what will 0.8.0.3 bring us?

This CV rework is out of hand, right now CV's are unplayable in combat due to AA mechanics and new meta of surface ships grouping tight together , works fine spotting surface ships, but thats all...

while the rework just brought a whole new super stupid meta into the game usually one side just leaves all caps uncontested because capital ships or aa cruisers like to move to the other side of the map and all ends up in big clumps of ships camping at a1.

As for my understanding, CVs arent in the game primarily to deal DMG but support the "team" with spotting DDs/ships and cover e.g. DDs from enemy CVs planes with you fighters. You get a lot of XP from spotting dmg.

 

The other thing is dmg dealt to enemy ships... you arent able anymore to nuke/1 hit ships with 1 bomberattack as in the RTS system (which is good), but on the other hands it´s very hard to deal significant dmg due to the op AA from ships and an erratic RNG factor with bombs.

Since new update game wont load …..nevermind its the new Aslain update that is causing it. Been removed and all is well.

Major misconception of CV role in your statement.  Why have attack aircrafts, we have torpedo bombers and dive bombers, basically not a typical  role of a spotter plane...

 

Major issue with this rework, are  change of CV meta.

 

Meta before was extremely strong as combined Alfa strike group on single surface ships was very successful aka delete button.

 

Now with rework everything have changed for CV, making every single sortie insignificant weak compared to old meta,  resulting in less DMG output per strike.

 

Still surface AA  ships assumes that CV are overpowered with current meta, because they expect  to shoot the down the same  amount as before...

 

Adaption is part of evolution and applies for WOWS new meta, grouping of surface ships was accepted from my side and must be taken into account fixing this rework...
