Update: Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances the stream has been moved back exactly one week - to September 6, 2021!
Episode 14 — The Battle of the Atlantic

Let's sit down and have a chat about ships we often overlook - the freighters, oilers, corvettes, frigates, and submarines that took part in one of the most destructive campaigns of World War II.
    This month’s panelists include:
Dr. Alexander Clarke – Naval Historian and YouTuber.  Tuccy – World of Warships EU Publishing Producer. Princeblip — World of Warships: Legends Community Manager. If you have any questions or comments for our panel about the Battle of the Atlantic, please leave them at the form linked below!

    The Battle of the Atlantic
If it's sometimes referred to as the "Longest battle of WWII", due to it lasting virtually the entire span of the war, it's because it was never really a battle to begin with — at least not in the traditional sense. In fact, the Battle of the Atlantic — as it's more commonly called — was more than even just a series of battles and skirmishes.
For the Allied freighters and oilers, shipping invaluable supplies and materiel across the vast expanse of the Atlantic could be likened at times with sprinting through a forest with a blindfold on. For the countless German U-boat wolfpacks hunting for them, often the only alternative to groundbreaking success was a cold end in the dark depths of the ocean, especially as time passed and Allied anti-submarine technology and tactics improved.
If you're hungry to learn more about this fascinating topic, a good place to start is these two videos from our panelist Dr. Alexander Clarke:
