I just grabbed all the questions already asked on the NA forum, and added the answers as well, just so WG doesn't have to double post too much :)

Before I start, a lot of posts use hull classification codes:
BB: Battleship
CB: Battlecruiser
DD: Destroyer
DE: Destroyer Escort
CV: Aircraft Carrier (Cruiser aViation)
CL: Light Cruiser

More here: http://en.wikipedia....fication_symbol

Q: Which time period will be covered by the game?
A: In the game we will introduce Warships from the start of dreadnought era till the dusk of the Artillery Warships.
Q: What classes of Warships will be presented in the game?
A: In the game we will introduce following types of Warships:
Battleships. This is the heaviest ship of the team. The most armored and protected warships, which normally have medium speed and large-caliber weapons
Cruisers. Depending on the specific warship, the main traget of this class will be hunting enemy destroyers or protecting the team from aerial enemies. And, of course, Artillery battle with other cruisers.
Destroyers. The smallest and the fastest in World of Warships. Torpedo's are their main weapon and battleships main targets. Also can help with aerial defence of the team
Airaraft carriers. Big and vulnerable warships, which have big range of fire thanks to planes: fighters, bombers and torpedo carriers. The gameplay on an aircraft carrier will be similar to RTS-games.
Q: Will you have submarines in the game?
A: No, because submarines are quite vulnerable, when not underground. So there won't be any player controlled submarines in the game.
Q: Who is developing the game
A: Lesta Studio under Wargaming control.
Q: Will you be able to give a warship a name and make it displayed to other players? Also, are we going to be able to fly flags, to reflect country and clans?
A: It's planned to allow players to select warship name from the premade list. As for flags, we do plan to allow clan flags aside of regular premade list of flags (which will include countries).
Q: What size of maps will WoWS have?
A: 50х50km, with probably bigger ones in future.
Q: Will you integrate all 3 projects in one battlefield.
A: No, because it's impossible
Q: When will Alpha Test be started?
A: As soon as the game will require this stage of Development.
Q: Does player controlls only one warship?
A: Yes, he does
Q: How many nations will be introduced in the game?
A: By released we will have full Japanese and USA trees. Afterwards we plan to introduce Britain, germany, USSR, France, Italy.
Q: How the crew system will work?
A: Crew will be represented by small amount of main officers, which will have their own skills and perk. There will be a possibility to knock out the officer. In this case warship will suffer penalties similarly to vehicle in World of Tanks.

Q: The average dogfight lastedroughly 45 seconds, and small tank on tank fights would not ussually last long either. However ship to ship clashes would often last hours on end, and usually a few ships would be sunk and others damaged before one side retreated. How does WG plan on making battles last only 15 or so minutes?
A: In time period of our game warships already had enough firepower to sink an armored opponent fast enough. History also has some facts about 'oneshots'. For example, admiral-class battlecruisers Hood was one shot by Prinz Eugene during WWII, because of setting ammunition deck on fire. We are very careful to historical details and will tune the gameplay in the way, when player will feel operating a true steel monster.

#1 When can some of us expect alpha invite?
#2  What will be system requirements
#3 Will the game utilize multiple cores instead of just 1 (WoT)
#4 How will the ships play? Do we get a single ship to command or do we get a flotilla to command?

1)We plan to start Alpha ASAP. Aplha inviting will have similar process to WoWP. Active and valuable forum members will be also invited to the Alpha.
2)It's quite hard to predict it right now. Probably a bit higher, than WoT.
3)We are working on imlementing this feature in all projects. Since we've bought BigWorld company the works receive quite a good speed-up. No ETA for now, though.
4)You will play single ship. Totally, in one battle you will see 26-34 players, depending on teams roster.

=

is there an official twitter feed for WoWS yet?
https://twitter.com/worldofwarships

=

will we be able to destroy the items on maps with our cannon?
such as there is a rock in the middle of the sea, will we be able to blow up that rock?
or will the rocks be invincible to any kind of cannon like those super elements in WoT?

Many items will have their destruction level, but I doubt that you will be able to destroy an island with your main caliber-)

=

For the Crew will it be like in WoT with say 5 specalized crew memebers(gunner,Radioman) or will it have say a number of crew like 2 thousand total sailers as potential critical hits.

Crew will be represented with main officers.

=

Is there any link with the specific ship classes (DD, CV, BB, etc...) and the period of time considered?

For now we plan to have 4 ships classes:
Destroyer
Aircraft carrier
Battleship
Сruiser

=

For the tier 1s are you planning on using superdreadnoughts or starting us out on light cruisers or destroyers or will it very for different nations

At this stage, it's to early to speak about this.

1. Will there be a crew management option similar to the one in World of Tanks? For example, World of Tanks has approx. 5 crew members for each tank and the more you play, the more they gain experience. How will you do this with World of Warships? One ship could potentially have well over 100 sailors.
2.    If one crew member gets hit and he dies, how will this affect the ship's performance? Will it have a large impact or a small impact? (Obviously having 50 crew members knocked out is different from just 1 but I'm curious as to how large of an impact)

1. See the answer above. It was already asked and even answered -)
2. Knocking out an officer will affect ship performance similarly to the vehicles in WoT.

so will be the ramming system similar to that in WoT?
the heavier unit deals more damage to the lighter one?
can a CA crushing into a DD and destroying in one ram?

Yes, ramming will be allowed, but both warpships will suffer damage from such action.

Will we have an option to create our own battle against bots to practice before going to real battles?

Only during a training campaign, which will help you to learn game basics.

Is WoWS going to be using the neew rendering systerm from WoT thats coming out in 8.0 patch or a different one

WoWS will use the latest innovations of all Wargaming projects, so end graphics will be much bettter.

Are we going to be able to name each of our ships and see that reflected on the hull?
Also, are we going to be able to fly flags, to reflect country and clans?

It's planned to allow players to select warship name from the premade list. As for flags, we do plan to allow clan flags aside of regular premade list of flags (which will include countries).

And battleshps in Battleships and battlecruisers  ( and when they add germany in pocketbattleships xd )
Are we going to get WWI ships or the time frame starts as post WWI ?

In the game we will introduce Warships from the start of dreadnought era till the dusk of the Artillery Warships.

Will ships have an upgrade system to follow/tech research tree?
Will the battles follow the same concept of either destroying all the enemies/capping a designated base?

Yes, the Tech Tree system will be followed.
Destroying all enemies will result a win, but other conditions of winning will depend on a game mode.

How far will crew ranks go in this game?
Limiting to just Major(or its navy equivalent) would be rather awkward for battleships...which seems to goes as far as Colonel(Captain?)

We're still discussing it. Most probably till Captain.

Any chance the 'Crew' system will be more robust then just officers? I expect loosing 30-40% of your able crew off a battleship will have more ramifications to it's performance then 1-2 officers. Or is that what the officers are supposed to represent?

Yes, losing an officer will represent the effect of losing a part of specific crew in most cases.

What will happen if you get shot below the water line will your ship begin to flood or will it just be normal damage

Both things will happen.

Is the upgrade system going to be more robust then WOT? With many larger ships equipped with multiple turrets are we going to be able to select the armaments for different hard points or just the entire ship?

There will be predefined lists of what you can mount onto the ship, and all armament and machinery will be in that lists. We call them pre-sets. Everything that is listed in pre-set will be installable at once; players will not be allowed to mount each AA gun manually.

1. What game modes should we be expecting?
2. Will there be any sea current? If yes, will it affect the speed of the ship a lot?
3. Will shooting the bridge of the ship cause more damage than shooting its hull?
Thank you for answer our questions.

Yes, you can launch hydroplane from non carrier warship.
Planes will provide scouting for every allied ship.
Spotting is a little different from WOT, but is based on the same principles.
And yes, firing range for many ships (BBs especially) will be much longer than the spotting range - use your planes, Luke!

Will aircraft carrier players be able to control the planes that they have launched?

In the RTS-style - yes. Please, do not expect the direct control of every plane from the cockpit.

What kind of ammunition will there be with the different classes of guns?
AP/HE/smoke/Frag etc. Also what ammo will the AA guns fire upon the airplanes?

AP/HE/Common, etc. AA guns will have the HE and radio-controlled shells as well.

You know how some ships are higher up and there guns can only look down a bit?
Say a mid tier destroyer attaches himself to the side of the enemy ship where the guns cant hit him because they can't look down that far and that he is so close to the ship.
The destroyer could keep punching shells in the side killing him.
Has anyone thought of that possibility that will need to be addressed.
And its happened before i saw a show where a american destroyer did this.

It is possible, though secondary armament guns would sooner or later sink that smartass.

Will remodels of Warships be similar to WoT?
Like
Ex1. Have an automatic Elite ship, you can skin another Elite ship over it.
Ex2. Have a Turret_primitives. etc type of files.
Be easier to put mods/skin from sites on easier than WoT?

I doubt it would be easy for modmakers to replace skins for ships

Is there going to be weather on release? Like will we have different sea conditions or will we get nice calm seas?
Also is there any chance of night battles?

How abstract is the crew going to be? Will we have to worry about discipline or morale?

There is going to be a wheather, but no guarantee for it to be in release version - though later it is very possible.
Can't tell you about night battles right now - maybe we will have them, maybe not. It is not considered yet.

The Devs have told us in the FAQ that Torpedos will be in the game as a weapon for Destroyers, Cruisers, and TBs launched off Aircraft carriers.
There's a disparity in the amount of torpedos ships carried, due to their size, configuration, role, etc..  such as the USN'sFletcher class having 10 tubes while the IJN's Kitakami class has 40 tubes.  Will the torpedos be a one shot weapon with no reloads like tank shells in WoT or will they carry limited reloads within the ship?
Will the Aircraft carriers be able to send up a CAP to protect the fleet or attack opposing planes?

Players will be able to reload torpedoes, though it will take some time to do so.

1. Will you be able to refit the Japanese BB Ise into a hybrid BB/CV. Will other hybrids such as this be in game?
2. AA will be controlled by the AI, but can we use dual purpose guns to fire at aircraft?

1. No. BBs and hybride BB/CVs are in different branches of ship tree.
2. Yes, dual purpose guns will be set in auto mode when you choose to attack some aircraft.

I love to do wall of questions , you will see me posting 5 to 10 questions each 2 weeks lol!

Thought of a couple more questions.
Will we be able to lay smoke screens in the game?
How about mines?
What will player grouping limits be?  Three like premium platoons from WoT?

1. Smoke screens are possible.
2. No mines
3. It is not considered yet

will we have to pay ammo costs for anti aircraft and secondary guns. If so will the main armerments ammo be cheaper to make it easier for the captain

The economy of the game will be changed many times before release, so there is no point to answer that question.

Will Destroyer Escorts (DEs) be included as destroyers (DDs)?
Will there be a branch for each,  or will it be like WoT where you can start with lights (DD?), SPGs (CVs), and Tank destroyers (no equivalent)?
How will carriers work? Airstrikes seem like they would be overpowered at tier 2. Raids take a lot longer than artillery shells to move.
What kind of game types? Deathmatch for sure, but convoy defence? Beach defense?
In the case of convoy, will players be able to opt to play Q-ships?
Torpedo boats?
What kind of modules will we have?
Will all batteries be fired in one salvo, or will we have to fire each individually?
Will team voice communication in public matches be available? Fleet battles can't be played like tank battles.
Will Company battles return in some form?

1. Yes
2. There will be one or more DD branch, where you can find "Leaders", as they've been called in Soviet Navy.
3. Overpowered? Why is that? On tier 2 you will have like some turtle-flying biplanes.
4. Different kind of them
5. Can't tell yet
6. Of course, no.
7. Hundreds of them
8. Al main caliber guns will be fired simultaneously.
9. Yes, voice chatting will be avaliable.

What will the damage to ships look like?

The damage to ships will look like damage to ships,
Your Captian Obvious.

After the testing is done do you expect Patrol boats(PT and Eboats), submarines, and destroyer escorts? Also any idea on gun selection? 18 inch (Japan), 14-16 inch. 5 inch and so on will they all fire or can you select them? Of course it would be interesting to see a 16 in be used as AAA.... Thanks.

No. No U boats, no PT boats, no patrol boats. Our game is about big ships.

Will waves and wind be a factor when shooting?

NO! SHIPS OF WWII HAD COMPLEX FCS AND GYROSCOPE SYSTEMS TO AVOID THESE FACTORS.

Will the maps have differents depths?
I would love to have the risk on running my destroyer aground.

Yes, of course.

1) I am not sure if it is too early to even begin thinking about this, but when aircraft take off, will they simply spawn in a take-off position and fly off of the deck, or will there be detailed animations of planes taxiing from their parked positions into the center of the deck and taking off, including raising planes via elevators?
2) Shore bombardment reached its peak during WWII. Will there be a game mode that represents this tactic? (I assume that seeing as aircraft carriers have attack planes, battleships have large main guns, cruisers have their turrets, and destroyers have surface guns that players cannot control but CAN assign priority targets to, there shouldn't be too much of an issue with it....)

1) I can't tell that there will be a detailed animation, but some kind of animation will definately be there.
2) Maybe

Will waves be a factor in the gaming? Meaning will it cause our ships to move up and down a lot?
Is there going to be storms and such in the game?  I would love to battle in the ocean with massive storm pushing me around.
How will the interface of game play be like such as sniper mode torpedo mode and so on?

1. Answered before
2. Answered before
3. Third person view, binocular view, arty-style view for long-range firing and top-down view for aircraft managing.

What do you plan for the speed of the ships? In some games like battlestations Pacific, it takes a long, long time to get anywhere, and the islands are not proportioned correctly, so you feel larger than you actually are. will you be making the maps the correct proportions?

We are trying to have a correct proportions

First, What sort of gameplay will we be looking at?  Will it be like Battlestations Pacific or World of Tanks where you just point and shoot and the computer takes care of compensating for shell drop , or will it be more like Navyfield where you have to guess the angle needed to accurately bring fire onto target?  If the guessing method is the case, will we have historical-esque methods of guessing range?  I'm thinking things like stereoscopic range finders that the player has to adjust in order to guesstimate the range.

Secondly, Will we be looking at realistic engagement distances and times?  For example, in Battlestations Pacific even battleships have to basically be at point blank in order to start shooting at each other.  And when they do start shooting, the shells take maybe a second to traverse the distance.  While interesting, it's not exactly realistic. To be honest, I personally would like to see a system where normal combat ranges mean the enemy is a speck on the horizon, and shells take a realistic (20+ seconds) amount of time to reach the target.

Thirdly, will shell spread be modelled in-game?  Certain ship types had really tight shell groupings, while other ships like the Italian Heavy Cruisers and the Northampton/Portland class cruisers had really loose shell groupings.  So, will certain ships have a better chance to get more "hits" in a salvo than other ships?

1. Something between WOT and Battlestations.
2. Yes, realistic distances, though shells will have a tuned up speed (like 3-4 times higher to make game a little more fast-paced).
3. Yes, shells have their dispersion ellipse as in real life.

What different Navies are we likely to see in the game both in release or any more down the track?

USN and IJN in CBT/OBT and at release. Other navies will come in future.

Will the speed of the ships be measered in knots or kmph for the player. Or will there be an option for it

In knots, though we can make an option for it.

#1 In WWII CVs are classified into CVs and CVEs
will this be implemented in WoWS?
#2 Are we going to start with CVEs then advanced down the line to CVs or tiering system will mix CVEs and CVs down the line?
#3 It is known that CVs can control their aircrafts in RTS mode
However will it be possible to get access to a full screen strategic map like the one in CoH ToV?

1. Yes.
2. Yes, players will start with old escort CVs
3. It is possible to have all battle map on the screen at one time.

Will all the armament be player controllable on the ship so main guns and any secondary guns as well as AA torpedo ect, and im guess that all that armament will be customizable in the form of modules at some point going by WoT?

Armament will be customizable like in WOT - you will be able to load shells you like most, though only historical types of shells for specific guns.

Since the game will draw from a time period well into the 50's will the later tier destroyers and cruisers have surface to air missiles like that of the Nike system?

It is possible for surface-to-air missiles to appear on some ships, but that possibility is not high.

If you are playing as a carrier and you send out a squad of say 10 dive bombers to attack an enemy cruiser and 5 got shot down but the other 5 survived would you be able to use those 5 again. Also is there going to be a time between lauching planes

Yes/Yes

Since ships have multiple gun turrets, how will that work? Will we switch between them eg. forward, rear, etc, or will they all aim at the same target? Whatever the case, will this affect WoT multi-turret too?

Main caliber guns, controlled by player will aim all at one target. And no, this can not effect WOT problems.

For the Carrier Planes. Will you be able to attack specific points on a target?
For example, when I have my planes attack a ship, can I specifically target the AA-guns and render it's AA ability useless? Or is it just a general target system where the planes hit spots on the target randomly?

No, you cannot attack specific point on target, as in real life.

1- Reading that players choosing a Destroyer will have a three accompanying AI-controlled destroyers, and choosing a Cruiser will have an accompanying Cruiser; How will that work?
+Will we have to buy two Cruisers to have an accompanying ship- And can buy multiples of the same ship?
2- What's the tonnage of the biggest ship that'll be featured on WoWs?
3- Will Aircraft Carriers be unable to launch planes if their deck is damaged/on fire?

1. That's very old info. We will have no AI controlled ships in PvP - if player choose a DD, than balancing tool will get another three players on DD in that team slot.
2. Less than 80k
3. They will have penalty to launching ability

Will the aim be calculated like it is in WoT? Point and click or will we have a range finder?

Point and click, of course.

Will Montana class equivalent ships be the highest tier, or will there be more tiers above it?

USN will have the Iowa and Montana as the tier10 BBs in game; there will not be any ships with higher tier than 10.

What will the battle grounds be like? Sorta like tanks but bigger? or more like navyfield?

Sorta like WOT and/or WOWP.

I MUST know if devs are considering such ships as the A-220, the Tillman battleships, and the H-class Battleships as end-tier ships.

We are NOT considering ships with higher than 80k displacement to appear in game, because such ships are more about magic than about possibility of technology of 1940s.

will you have different game modes similar to the one in WoT?

Yes, but perhaps later than release.

when all of the games release if you control the same area in all maps will you get anything extra?

No

how will the yamato (if it is put into the game) be balanced since it was the largest battle ship ever?

It is the tier10 BB of IJN, as well as N13.

2 questions
Will Yammy's 18" guns be able to fire AA rounds as they did IRL
Will the game have only Dreadnoughts or will there be pre-Dreadnoughts too?

1. It is possible
2. It is possible too, but do not count on that.

Ok, taking a break now, did http://forum-na.worl...1/page__st__100 up to and including page 6. Just in case some one wants to finish the job :)

How will damage control work ? will you be able to control how your crew reacts to certain damage
i.e Prioritise your repair assignments for crew for fire control, water pumps, engines, hull damage?
will you be able to manage this ingame say with a rotary menu ala Battlestations ?
Will you be able to counter flood, to stop yourself from capsizing?
Flood magazines to stop ammo detonations in case of fire?]
Flooding will be a major factor in the game will there be any sort of indicator/buoyancy meter to let you know that your about to slip from the surface and embrace the briny deep?
Thanks

No. There will not be any repair/flood micromanagement - everything that can be repaired will be repaired to at least of 50% effectiveness automatically, or to 100% with consumable used, same story with flooding.

Will the ships of smaller navies be included as well (eg. Dutch, Chilean, Brazilean and Sweden)

Yes, definitely, but not at release date.

Will Destroyers equipped with Torpedoes be made significant threats to higher tier warships meaning Battleships?

Of course - 3 or 4 DD torpedoes are the great danger for any kind of ship. It is actually possible to kill a BB with one salvo, if you have proper hands and skill of a DD user.

Will Japan have their Pseudo Carrier battleships?

You mean hybrid ones? Yes, there will be a lot of them.

1) With the N13 and Yamato as the Japanese tier ten battleships, and the Iowa and Montana as the US ones, is it safe to say that these two countries will have battlecruiser/fast battleship and battleship trees?
2) Will differences in carrier operation be reflected? Will the Japanese and US carriers be much better at providing mass strikes than the British, and the US especially be mediocre at sending off individual planes?
3) Will you include nations that don't have suitable ships for one of the categories (such as aircraft carriers)?
4) Will the wind direction be important to carrier operations?
5) What period will the first battleships be from? Will they be dreadnaughts, super-dreadnaughts or treaty battleships?
6) At what tier will the Imperial German Navy battleships end?
7) What will be the first and last carriers? Do you know the expected US and Japanese tier tens? Will the first ones be something like the Langley, Hermes and Hosho?
8) How will ships with seaplanes work? Will it be somewhat similar to carriers interface wise?
9) Will overloaded ships be more prone to capsize?
10) If a battleship is riddled with fire to its upper works but its watertight integrity isn't damaged (basically the South Dakota scenario), how badly will her ability to fight be affected?
11) On the question of torpedos, will ships with flawed TDS like the South Carolina and Iowa be more prone to torpedo damage?
The Most Important Question:
12) Will the list of national flags include the Imperial German War Ensign?

1) There will not be any BC or BB specific tree; BCs and BBs are united into a BB tree, though some branches of a BB tree of some nations would be more about speed than about armor, while the others are the opposite.
2) These kind of difference are all about gameplay balance. We will put an eye on them, but I am not sure we will stay absolutely historical in these aspects.
3) Well, yes. We are studying archives, books and drawings very precisely, and we've already found enough CVs for all major naval nations.
4) No, we are the game for mass market, and trying not to create hard mode in situations where we can live without it.
5) The first BBs will be the first dreadnoughts (or dreadnought projects for nations without, for example, non-paper tier 2 BB, like Russia/USSR)
6) German tree is to be completed and discussed, though I doubt we would find any HSF projects higher than tier 7 at best.
7) I can not tell you the tier1 CVs, but I can tell you the tier10 - it is Midway for USN and G15 for IJN.
8) Yes, the BBs/CAs/CLs with seaplanes will have the exact same UI options like CVs.
9) No, though we will take into consideration the metacentric height of the original drawings,
10) The fires will tend to make stronger and to get to more and more compartments, and every step of fires going higher there is a chance to damp them down.

So, from my researching, I think it's safe to infer that there may be several aircraft for a CV to launch. Will WoWs take into consideration fuel usage and ammunition stocks for these aircraft?
Ex. Will the airplanes have to restock? Will there be a limit on how long they can be in the air before they need to restock on fuel like, say, 5 or so minutes?

Yes, airplanes will have limited fuel and limited ammunition.

Okay, since the interface will be point and click like in WoT and Battlestations Pacific, will the computer automatically throw in "Overs", "Unders", and "Straddles" in order to replicate the inherent inaccuracies of long range naval combat?
Secondly, when initially firing at a new target, will the computer aiming take a salvo or two to "find the range", as would be the case in reality?
Lastly, will large ships like Battleships have a penalty to hit small targets like destroyers with their main battery?  Because having some jerk drop a blockshot of 16" fire onto your destroyer with pinpoint accuracy from across the map despite your aggressive manuvering was the single most annoying thing about Navyfield.

1. You will have to predict the position of impact of your salvo, though the game will show you the exact dispersion ellipse of that zone.
2. After first 3 salvoes, you dispersion ellipse will become minimal, which represents specification of target parameters
3. No, there will be no penalty. Please, take a note that there will be no blockshots.

Two questions, first will it be easier for everyone who knows about this now to get into alpha? I applied for World of Warplanes and didnt get in :/. But my brother did so I played it anyway. Second question, are these gonna be like huge ships on huge maps? Or like smaller versions of the actual ships, and I actually just thought of a third question. Can you have an aircraft carrier and launch planes to attack other ships?? That would be amazing.

1. Alpha is not yet started, so I cannot provide you information about how to get in
2. There wil be huge maps anyway

Would it be possible to create ur ship name, and then send it in to the admins and get it ok'd?
Because I would like my ships to be as unique as possible

I cannot say that it will be possible for sure, though we are not yet buried this concept at all.

If say, there are 10 slots for each team; and it takes four players in DD to fill one, does that mean we can have massive DD wars of 40 vs 40?  (That would be fun)

There will be some restriction in numbers for ship classes.

Will destroyers go up to tier X or a similar high tier, or will they be capped lower like lights in WOT?

Yes. Every ship class will have tier 10 ships for the top.

Wait, I'm confused.  How is damage represented in this game?  Is your ship just considered "destroyed" after it takes a certain amount of HP damage, or is there a flooding mechanic that eventually sinks your ship?
I mean, I get the subsystem repair as that's exactly the same as World of Tanks, but I don't understand how "flooding" can be considered a repairable subsystem, as flooding is kind of required for a warship to be destroyed.

You will have the HP bar as well as some kind of flooding bar.
As for flooding mechanics - it is complex enough, but players do not need to now how internal things actually work, it is enough to know that after a certain number of hits under the waterline with big guns it is possible for the ship to capsize.
And it can actually happen even before you loose your green HP bar points.

1) Will carriers be extremely vulnerable to fire during reloading/refueling of aircraft? And will there be a visual cue that aircraft are being prepped on deck for other ships?
2) Are there any plans to incorporate destructible land-based targets, such as shore batteries or harbor facilities?
3) How will carriers manage air combat? I understand it is a RTS-style, but will other players be able to see the air battle and its outcome from their ships?  Can carriers withdraw their planes from a losing battle?

1) No, there won't be any special debuffs during operations.
2) There are tonns of plans, but these plans are just plans now, so I cannot tell you when or would you see such kind of things.
3) Other players will see all planes of their team in the air, and can watch at the air combat between fighters or can look at the torpedoes, dropped from TBs.

4) Will aircraft be an upgradable feature for carriers, or will loadouts be historic?

Load outs will be customizable.

How are you going to handle the composition of teams? I read in an interview somewhere that you were planning to allow only a certain number ships per type (destroyers, cruisers etc) in a team? Is this still true?

With a automatic balancing tool, as in WOT. And yes, there will be only a certain number of ships for each class allowed in one battle.

1) Will one of the possible aircraft presets for the Yorktown-class aircraft carrier be 16 extended-range, stripped-down B-25s, as a reference/tribute to the Doolittle Raid?
2) Also, it seemed as if some of your answers contradicted each other (sending out shells to help aim the guns versus all main armaments being fired at once), so I will ask now: Will the main guns be fired successively (one at a time) or all at once (broadside)? Or will there be a hotkey to switch between these modes?
3) Will the Yamato class's 1941 and 1945 armament presets be different tiers, or will we need to research the 1945 weapon preset even though it's Tier X?

1) That is unlikely, but the final decisions about CVs and their loadouts still to come.
2) There will be a broadside. As for now we don't the the need for other options. And about helping to aim - you fire a salvo. Salvo impacts the sea (or the target). Your ellipse of dispersion becomes smaller.
3) That is likely that we will have researchable presets even for tier10 ships.

if you run your ship aground would it be impossible for it to sink

Yes. But it will also be almost impossible to live long after that with small HP left.

Will there be prop walking and other such effects in game?
Also will the Wind Class ships be used by both USSR and US Navies? Kind of like how there are LL tanks in WOTs http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Wind_class

1) Can you please explain what you mean? It's a pity, but my English knowledge is limited and I don't know that phrase.
2) Well, I doubt we will ever find a way for the icebrakers to be implemented in our game.

however can you explain how will the platoon system work?
i would be interested in playing WoWS with my friends

Sorry, platoons is the feature which is not completed yet. I will provide information about it in proper times

Will the matchmaker take skill into account, like an ELO system or similar? Or are PUB matches going to be eye clawingly frustrating like in WoT?

No, the matchmaker will never take skill into account. You can say that evil WG is still evil WG. Or "WG...WG never changes."

Can you tell us which nation you will most likely add after the USA and Japan?

I can't tell it, it is a top secret info :)

So we heard that you could customize flags on your ship but what about paint jobs and camouflage?

That is another feature, that is still not completed. Detailed info will come later.

Up to and including page 8

Im looking for the answer (but not succesfull yet): I will use main armament (BB-big guns, DD-torpedoes?...), for second armament i will choose targets (ships or aircrafts), but how will i can use BBs, BCs, CAs and CLs  torpedoes? Will be there any switch to choose torpedo tubes or guns?

It was answered, the problem is that the Dev answer thread is about 20 pages long. But from what I have read, you control only your main armament, but have the option to turn of your AA guns and probably secondary guns to preserve ammo. I'll go and look it up for you :)
But with ships that have both guns and torpedoes, you could switch between them.

Question:
Okay. I wasnt posistive on the exact range of the secondary batteries. I was mostly curious about the ability of using them seperately from the Main battery. As well as being able to use them as AA when needed...

Answer:
Player will use only Main battery by himself. Secondary battery, as well as DP guns and/or small AA automatic guns will be handled by AI.

Question:
Some battleships such as the German H class designs had a large set of main guns AND torpedoes. In these case, which of those would be the main armament, or would they both work as such?

Answer:
You will be able to switch between torpedoes and main caliber guns.

Easy, dont stress. I would like to control torpedo tubes in my Queen Elizabeth

Bored, at work and site is not blocked yet, so I decided to contribute something :)

And continuing:

Can you tell us why its only going to be the USN and the IJN at teh release of the game and not having a third nation

Because it takes about 3 months for one person to make, for example, a battleship.
Of course we have more than one 3d modeller, but you must understand, that ships are very complex things, and it takes time to build it and to tune it with a gameplay point of view.

So we decided to concentrate on two nations with biggest fleets in WWII, and to implement other nations after.

Can you confirm that the following NAtions will definately be represented in the game
UK, France, Italy, German, Russia.

Yes.

Will prop walk be in the game (Question shortened, too tricky to copy/paste)

Ahh, now I see. Well, unfortunately we are unable to have so complex physics in our game - mostly because it is MMO and all calculations are running on server.

will CVs be able to call back its planes and repair?
will we be able to repair them to full health?
also, will there be a limit of how many times an aircraft can refuel / reload?
can we change the weapons of aircrafts every time we reload?
how many aircrafts will we be able to carry?
based on historical value or gameplay balance?

1. Yes. of course
2. Yes
3. Rather no than yes.
4. You cannot change payload of the aircraft during battle - only in the harbor.
5. The number of aircraft you can carry depends on the CV you currently use - the basic numbers are close to historical for historical aircraft types.

will ships have a wake that will matter as in if a destroyer goes over the wake of a battle ship will they bob up and down or will it just be a visual?

The waves will be just visuals.

1 Will the  Japanese carrier planes  have a Kamikaze buff  Reflected in a rammed Coeffecient bonus?
2  Will Japanese  Battleship  be More  prone to capsizing The large Bridge Superstruct make them top heavy ?
3 Will Us  ship have more accurary ( Radar controled  fire system) But fire a less powerful shell
4 What will be the anti aircraft  Ship  defense. Actively controlable?passive? Turn on When  the plane appear?
5...... Do you Have Oatmeal Cookies

1. No, no kamikazes, sorry.
2. It is all about metacentric height and stability of a named ship. Not all ships in IJN are prone to capsizing, there are ships prone to capsizing in USN also.
3. It depends on ship, shell, FCS systems.
4. It will be AI controlled. Player will choose the priority targets if he wants, and will be able to turn AA guns on and off to keep some shells.
5. Well, of course i do!

when some battleships fired broad side (like the Iowa class) the ship would move sideways. are you planning  on having this in game?

Actually this cannot happen. You can calculate the energy needed to move the 60k tonns ship, travelling at 30mph sideways by yourself - the recoil force is not enough to do so.
A long discussion followed this answer, which while interesting is slightly irrelevant, so I will not add more of that. -Boneripper-

Will a carrier be able to 'upgrade' the planes it carries (ie Swordfish ---> Barracuda) or will you just be able to be upgrade the planes it carries (ie stronger defensive firepower)?

Yes, I give you 90% probability of it will be possible.

a) How far are you on modelling the ships?
b) How close is the UI to acceptable to play with?
c) How far along on the ship actions?

a) There are like 30 ships already made, but very few of them are actually tuned enough to be in game.
b) Already acceptable, though there are still things to remake and to polish
c) We already fight each other on a developer fightings.

Answer dated 18-08-2012 -Boneripper-

So the US and Japanese at least will have two parallel BB trees where one is fast battleship and one is heavily armed/armored slower super battleship?

You are close, but not that close :)
I cannot share the trees anyway.

Are there plans to allow researching of new hulls like for example remodeling Andrea Dora's hull to the 1937 version.

No. Ships with new hulls are ships of a new, higher lvl.

Large BB's fired shells that detonated, by some system or other, after burying themselves as deep as possible into the enemy, in order to cause the most damage. Now sometimes, if one of these shells struck a lightly armored destroyer, sometimes the shell would make a "neat" hole and go out the other side, and (depending on what the shell passed through) minimal damage.
1)will this be senario be possible in game (resulting in far less than average damage)
and 2) If yes to above, will the shell be able to hit something behind the destroyer, albiet with a Huge penetration pennalty?

1) Yes
2) I doubt we will make it possible.

1) Any information on the placement of the Alaska Large Cruiser?
I'd like to know in advance if I need to go through the cruiser line, or battleship.

2) What ship are you most looking forward to playing on each starter nation?

1) BB tree
2) I am the BBs fan, so no doubt I'll choose Yammy and Iowa (Answer by KGB -Boneripper- My personal prefernce goes towards DDs :))

1) Will there be tier 1s of each class?
2) What will be the lowest and highest tier US and Japanese destroyers and cruisers?

1) No. Tier 1 ships are special newbie ships; all other classes starting to appear at tier 2.
2) I can't share everything right now :)

Will it have birds like WoT?
Can we have dolphins and/or seaturtles instead of butterflies? (the latter also present in WoT)
On a more serious note:
If Bismarck is considered as Tier 8 maximum, what is the current target as a Tier 10 ship of the German Kriegsmarine, or is there no conclusion on that topic yet?
Will the game have a Wiki comparable to World of Tanks?
About Anti Air capability, will the ship AI target planes automatically? If yes, will we be able to override that decision by marking a plane as a specific target?

1. We already have seagulls
2. Bismarck will have two of H class ships after. Likely it would be H39 for tier 9 and H41 as tier10, but this can be changed in future.

Any chance of World of Battlesheeps becomeing a flash game?

Maybe after some time after release.

I understand that the Main batteries will be fired as a salvo, but what about the secondary batteries?
Most ships fo this age had the primary 8'-16/18' main batteries arranged in a dual/triple gun per turret with either 3 or 4 turrets. However in addition to this there were usually 3' or 5' guns enplacements as well. These were used in the same manner as the Main batteries just at a closer range. Ie close combat, close shore bombarment, etc...
Will we have a minimum range implemented?
If so, will we be able to use the secondary batteries within the main Battery's minimum range? For example, say the minimum range of the the 16' guns on the USS Iowa was 1 mile, would we be able to use the secondary battery composed of 5'' guns on targets within that 1 mile range. Against destroyers?
Also, many of these secondary mounts were dual purpose. They were used for AA purposes when needed. Will this also be implemented?

Actually, 5"-6" guns had range of almost half range of a main caliber guns of a BB.
And yes, there are ranges where you cannot lower the elevation of a gun to a minus digits.
You can also switch dual purpose guns to a AA mode.

Will we see a tier 2 Aircraft carrier? or will it branch out from another line like heavies in WoT?

Yes, you will see a tier 2 CV.

Ok, this was it for me for now, I assume Tuccy will take it from here, I have done up to and including page 10 and have gone cross-eyed

Well, they could always have USN and RN as the first ones. But perhaps they decided it would be cool to have one axis one too?

As for USN vs. RN size, it depends on what time period we are talking about. USN was certainly far larger at the end of the war.

I beleive they said that the main reason was that they had already done research on the IJN and USN for their previous game Pacific Storm.
